Further, this role will manage business risk and insurance portfolio management.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nLead General Accounting, Inventory Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions\nGlobal consolidation and reporting of actuals; maintain multi-entity trial balances, perform monthly financial close and prepare monthly Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Cash Flow Statements\nFinancial Statement Audit, internal controls and compliance\nContinue implementation of AI enabled automation of accounting function\nSupport board processes, preparation, reporting (i.e., audit committee, actual reporting, etc.)\nSupport bank/credit facility negotiations\nFederal and multi-state Income Tax and Sales Tax compliance and coordination with outside tax accountants; also, local property and business tax compliance\nLegal entity permits and annual filings on a multi-state basis\nTreasury execution (banking management)\nBusiness risk and insurance portfolio management\nSME, implementation team member and sometimes leader, of process and system design for ERP and other IT business systems (ERP upgrade expected in 2028)\nOther duties as assigned\nPOSITION SPECIFICS:\nThis is a full-time position\nTypical work hours and days are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, work requirements around deadlines may necessitate after 5:00 p.m. and weekends.\nThis position is based out of the Costa Mesa, CA office at least 4 days per week.\nLimited travel of approximately a few days per year is expected for this position.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nResponsible for quarterly reviews of direct reports and ensuring all managers of teams have outlined performance objectives for their teams.\nDirect supervision of General Accounting Manager (fully remote employee), AR/AP Manager and Staff Accountant based in Costa Mesa, CA and indirect supervision of Accounts Payable staff and Accounts Receivable staff based in Costa Mesa, CA.\nRecruit, train, lead, develop, evaluate and retain direct and indirect labor associated with Accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. \nRecommend and assist with employee development programs. Ensure performance objectives are outlined and completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.\nWork with Human Resources for coaching, counseling and corrective actions.\nREQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:\n Required: Experience in all aspects of finance and accounting including extensive inventory management experience, as well as A/P, A/R, tax, cash flow, cost control, analysis and reporting. Also, experience in maintaining GAAP compliance, corporate policies, bank and investor relationships is required. Additional experience with acquiring capital and evaluating M&A transactions would be helpful. \nCPA, CMA, or MBA required.\nConsumer Products industry experience with inventory accounting for Asia sourcing, as well as global distribution with big box retailers & direct-to-consumer channels is required.\nSuccessful candidate must still be a hands-on technician with excellent analytic, computer and leadership skills to manage a department of about 10 people. \nFast-paced growing company experience and/or demonstrated effectiveness in a small company/location where role includes both strategic and hands-on responsibilities. \nExperienced in use of metrics / scorecard to measure and manage performance. \nDemonstrated process improvement/simplification expertise.\nCross-functional understanding and ability to achieve business results through cross-functional collaboration with sales, finance, marketing, R&D, customer service, HR and vendor partners. \nWell-developed leadership skills including the ability to inspire others, set direction/vision, drive innovation, get results through others, manage change, develop organization/team, coach, supervise and develop others. \nBusiness analysis and planning expertise including sound judgment and decision-making. Exceptional analytical thinking skills including the ability to see trends, identify implications and focus on what’s important.\nEffective written communication, presentation skills, and influencing skills both internally and externally.\nExperience with Great Plains ERP and implementing a new ERP are a plus\nStrong MS Office skills (Excel, Outlook, etc.). Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions if projects/opportunities arise.
