You'll coach and support Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) apprentices undertaking the Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship, helping them develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to succeed in military transport and logistics environments.\nThe role aligns with job titles such as Apprenticeship Coach, Engineering Trainer, Engineering Assessor, Vehicle Maintenance Instructor, Engineering Instructor, Technical Trainer, Mechanical Engineering Coach, or Vocational Trainer.\nThe Role\nAs an Apprenticeship Coach, you'll support learners through the early stages of their apprenticeship journey at the Defence School of Transport (DST), conducting coaching sessions, progress reviews, workplace observations and learner support activities.\nWorking closely with learners, military stakeholders and colleagues, you'll help apprentices achieve key milestones, remain engaged with their programme and prepare for successful progression to Gateway and End Point Assessment.\nThe role is primarily based at DST Leconfield, with occasional travel required to support wider apprenticeship activities. A driving licence is essential.\nWhat You'll Own\nYou'll:\nDeliver coaching and apprenticeship support aligned to the Engineering Operative Level 2 Standard.\nConduct learner reviews, workplace observations and progress discussions.\nSupport apprentices in developing technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours.\nMonitor learner progress and identify support needs or barriers to achievement.\nMaintain accurate learner records and compliance documentation.\nProvide timely, constructive feedback that supports learner development.\nBuild strong relationships with learners, military stakeholders and training staff.\nSupport apprentices in preparing for Gateway and End Point Assessment.\nContribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.\nAbout You\nYou're an experienced engineering or vehicle maintenance professional who enjoys helping people learn and develop.\nYou may come from a military, transport engineering, logistics, fleet maintenance, heavy vehicle, plant maintenance or automotive background. Most importantly, you're confident coaching others, communicating effectively and working independently to support learner success.\nYou'll likely bring:\nEngineering, vehicle maintenance or transport engineering experience.\nCoaching, mentoring, training or instructional experience.\nStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.\nGood organisational and planning abilities.\nExperience working with safety, compliance and maintenance procedures.\nConfidence using digital systems and learning platforms.\nThe ability to build positive relationships and motivate learners.\nEssential\nEngineering, vehicle maintenance, transport engineering or related occupational experience.\nExperience coaching, mentoring, training or supporting the development of others.\nKnowledge of engineering maintenance principles and safe working practices.\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage learner caseloads effectively.\nGood IT skills and confidence using digital learning platforms.\nFull UK driving licence.\nAbility and willingness to travel when required.\nLevel 2 qualification in engineering, vehicle maintenance, transport engineering or equivalent occupational competence is desirable; substantial relevant experience will also be considered. \nCategory C or C+E driving licence.\nDesirable\nExperience within military, Defence or Royal Logistic Corps environments.\nExperience working with military vehicles, transport fleets or related equipment.\nExperience delivering or supporting apprenticeship programmes.\nEngineering Operative apprenticeship experience.\nAssessor, teaching or quality assurance qualifications.\nKnowledge of apprenticeship compliance, Gateway and End Point Assessment requirements.\nUnderstanding of Ofsted quality frameworks and apprenticeship funding requirements.\nPrevious military service, particularly within transport, logistics,
