Develop AWS-based data pipelines and SQL logic to enable reliable, scalable data flows across Pearson’s enterprise platforms, with a focus on tightly integrating multiple products using AWS tools.\nKey Responsibilities \nDesign, develop, and maintain reusable data pipelines following engineering standards. \nBuild SQL-based transformation logic and database objects within relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL). \nAnalyse SQL execution plans, optimise queries, and implement indexing strategies for performance. \nDevelop automation scripts for database deployment and operational activities. \nSupport schema changes via GitHub and CI/CD pipelines. \nCollaborate with Data Modellers, Architects, and Engineers to implement data models and resolve pipeline issues. \nRequired Skills and Competencies \nData pipeline development\nSQL development (complex queries, stored procedures, views, functions)\nDatabase performance tuning and optimisation\nETL/ELT solution development\nGitHub/version control\nAgile delivery experience\nPearson Power Skills: Adaptability, Artificial Intelligence, Learning to Learn (Intermediate)\nQualifications (Education & Experience) \nStrong hands-on experience with data integrations services and SQL database development\nExperience with large-scale SQL data transformation solutions\nFamiliarity with relational databases (Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)\nExperience in Agile teams and enterprise data integration environments\nExperience with CDC processes such as DMS (desirable)\nAzure or AWS certification (desirable)\nDirect Reports: No direct reports at IC20 tier.\nJob Location and Hours\nThe role is aligned to our Manchester, Rotherham, or London offices. Our Rotherham office is located at Junction 1 of the M18. All our roles are hybrid working; our current policy requires our team to visit their base office no more than once a week, and with the possibility of occasional business travel to other Pearson sites. Candidates must be a suitable commute from their base office as our office presence policy may change to require more frequent presence in the future.\nWe work a 37.5-hour week, with all our team free to flex their day around our core hours, which are Monday to Friday, 10 to 4 GMT/BST.
