The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer plays a critical role in protecting workflow accuracy, automation reliability, delivery confidence, and product quality as the platform continues to support complex exam-development workflows.\nKey responsibilities\nQuality strategy and test design\nLead test strategy and coverage planning for assigned squad initiatives, releases, and platform changes.\n\nDesign advanced test approaches spanning functional, regression, integration, negative, accessibility, and API coverage.\n\nDefine quality gates and test readiness criteria for stories, defects, releases, and production-impacting changes.\n\nEnsure stories and defects include clear testing evidence, including test cases executed, edge cases considered, environment details, data notes, and traceability where appropriate.\n\nUse metrics, defect trends, and production signals to continuously improve the test strategy.\n\nHands-on testing and automation\nContribute directly to hands-on testing for high-risk, complex, cross-team, or automation-critical work.\n\nCreate, improve, and review automated tests across UI, API, integration, and regression coverage.\n\nReview regression results, identify failure patterns, and drive resolution of flaky, missing, or outdated tests.\n\nUse manual, exploratory, accessibility, usability, or complex workflow testing when automation is not practical or sufficient.\n\nPromote automation-first practices and ensure tests are reliably incorporated into regression suites.\n\nQuality ownership and collaboration\nLead defect triage, retesting, and resolution follow-through, and escalate major quality concerns early.\n\nRaise defects with clear reproduction steps, environment details, test data, supporting evidence, and business or user impact where possible.\n\nServe as the technical authority on quality within your domain and inform critical release decisions.\n\nMentor and coach quality engineers in automation, test design, accessibility, and release validation.\n\nProvide quality perspective during backlog refinement, design reviews, technical planning, and release readiness.\n\nSurface QE capacity, coverage, or dependency risks early when testing scope may affect sprint or release timelines.\n\nRequired education and experience\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.\n\n5+ years of professional quality engineering, software testing, or test automation experience.\n\nDemonstrated experience leading quality for complex, distributed, cloud-based, or customer-facing platforms.\n\nStrong experience with test strategy, test design, defect management, regression planning, and release validation.\n\nExperience providing technical guidance and mentorship within Agile engineering squads.\n\nDesired knowledge, skills, and abilities\nExperience with Gauge-style BDD automation, Selenium/WebDriver, C# step implementations, and sustainable web application test automation.\n\nExperience maintaining automated test suites that run on virtual machines, with awareness of potential cloud-based testing infrastructure.\n\nExperience with relational databases, test data validation, defect investigation, and evidence-based quality review.\n\nExperience with SQL, log analysis, telemetry, dashboards, and production issue investigation.\n\nDemonstrated technical leadership in Agile quality engineering, including test planning, automation review, and continuous improvement.\n\nWillingness and ability to incorporate artificial intelligence technologies into QA responsibly, including validation of AI-assisted outputs.\n\nExperience working with offshore teams, vendors, and globally distributed delivery models.\n\nSuccess measures\nQuality strategy and test design are visible, current, and used by the squad.\n\nStories and defects close with clear, reviewable evidence of testing and coverage.\n\nRegression coverage and automation reliability improve;
