You will lead quality strategy, test planning, automation initiatives, and release readiness efforts while partnering with engineering, product, architecture, DevOps, security, and operations teams.\nThis role combines hands-on testing and automation with leadership through influence. You will help solve complex quality challenges, strengthen automation practices, mentor fellow quality engineers, and ensure the reliability, security, accessibility, and scalability of products used by millions of learners, certification candidates, and testing organizations worldwide.\nThe Opportunities\nWe are currently hiring multiple Senior Quality Engineer positions across our ExamDeveloper and OnVUE product teams:\nOnVue / Exam Developer - OnVUE offers a growth and governance opportunity across online proctoring and vendor partnerships. ExamDeveloper needs transformation, quality improvement and more sustainable processes. Final product alignment will be discussed during screening.\nTogether, these platforms support the assessment journey from exam creation to exam delivery, making quality engineering critical to both customer success and candidate experience.\nWhat You'll Do\nLead test strategy and quality planning for new features, platform enhancements, and releases.\nDesign comprehensive test approaches spanning functional, integration, regression, API, accessibility, negative, and end-to-end testing.\nBuild, maintain, and improve automated testing coverage across web, API, and workflow scenarios.\nPerform hands-on testing for complex, high-risk, cross-functional initiatives.\nDefine and enforce quality gates and release readiness criteria.\nLead defect triage, root cause analysis, retesting, and validation activities.\nReview automation and regression results, identify trends, and improve reliability and coverage.\nPartner with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, DevOps, Security, and Operations teams throughout the development lifecycle.\nUse metrics, production insights, telemetry, and defect trends to continuously improve quality practices.\nMentor and coach quality engineers in automation design, test strategy, accessibility validation, and release readiness.\nIdentify quality risks early and drive proactive mitigation plans.\nWhat We're Looking For\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.\n5+ years of professional quality engineering, software testing, or test automation experience.\nExperience leading quality efforts for complex web-based, cloud-hosted, or customer-facing applications.\nStrong knowledge of test strategy, defect management, regression planning, and release validation.\nDemonstrated experience providing technical guidance and mentoring within Agile engineering teams.\nStrong understanding of automation-first testing principles and quality engineering best practices.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Selenium, WebDriver, Playwright, or comparable automation frameworks.\nExperience with BDD testing frameworks, including Gauge or similar tools.\nExperience testing UI, API, integration, and end-to-end workflows.\nFamiliarity with Java, C#, REST APIs, and modern CI/CD practices.\nStrong SQL and database validation skills.\nExperience investigating production issues using logs, telemetry, dashboards, and monitoring tools.\nExperience validating accessibility requirements and user experience quality.\nKnowledge of distributed systems, cloud-based applications, and scalable architectures.\nExperience working with globally distributed teams, offshore partners, or vendor-supported delivery models.\nExperience leveraging AI-assisted development and testing tools responsibly, including validation of AI-generated outputs.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nQuality strategy and test coverage are visible, measurable, and aligned with business priorities.\nStories and defects are supported by clear testing evidence and traceability.\nAutomation coverage, regression effectiveness, and release confidence continue to improve.\nCritical production defects and quality escapes are minimized.\nQuality risks are identified early and managed effectively.\nThe broader quality engineering organization benefits from your mentorship, technical leadership, and continuous improvement mindset.\nLocation & Working Pattern\nUnited States. Any state restrictions or travel expectations will be shared during the recruitment process.\nCompensation\nCompensation at Pearson is influenced by factors including skill set, experience, and location. The full-time salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000. This position is eligible to participate in Pearson’s sales incentive plan. Information on benefits can be found here.
