You will manage engineers building and operating that platform and the products on top of it.\nWe are modernizing a platform that today runs primarily on legacy .NET Frameworks: IIS-based ASP.NET WebFormsand MVC, an AngularJS and jQuery front end, and SQL Server. The future is design-system-based React and TypeScript single-page applications calling .NET REST services that operate in containerized modern .NET, and integrate with an API-first, event-driven model on AWS with externalized authorization. Your teams will work on both sides of this technology, the legacyand the new.\nThe platform is becoming agentic across every exposed product area, not only in the teamswhose names say AI. That changes what an engineering manager is accountable for. Wherever your team's surface reaches a student, a family, a teacher, or school staff, you own the guardrails, the human-in-the-loop fallback, the disclosure, and the evidence that the behavior was evaluated before release. That obligation does not vary by team.\nYou are expected to be AI-native in how you manage. That means you can read the work of engineers operating at our bar for AI-fluent engineering, you know what an evaluation set is worth and what it is not, and you hold quality as a gate rather than a phase. A good deal of the code your team is accountable for will not be typed by hand.\nKey Responsibilities\nTeam Delivery and Operating Rhythm\nAllocate daily work, provide immediate support, and keep the delivery schedule reliable\n\nGive feedback in the moment, and escalate an unresolved issue early rather than absorbing it\n\nOwn onboarding and ramp for new team members, and shorten it deliberately\n\nHolding the Shape of the Team\nHire against our bar for AI-fluent engineering, and hold it when the pipeline is thin\n\nAgentic Capability and Duty of Care\nTreat every exposed product surface as one that will carry agentic capability, and apply the same obligations whether or notthe team's name says AI\n\nRequire an evaluation set with a stated pass bar, wired into the release gate, before model-backed behavior reaches a student\n\nEnsure guardrails, human-in-the-loop fallback, escalation, and disclosure are designed into the interaction rather than added after a complaint\n\nMonitor reliability, hallucination, and model performance against stated thresholds, and treat drift as a defect rather than as news\n\nQuality, Adoption, and Shared Tooling\nHold specification-first practice: contract-level tests before the implementation, negative tests as a first-class obligation, and evals wherever behavior is model-backed\n\nEnsure the automated merge gates run and are not routinely overridden, and treat a suite that never fails as a defect rather than a result\n\nDrive the team's contribution to the governed shared library, so skills, MCP servers, evaluation suites, and golden datasets leave the team rather than staying in it\n\nPeople and Capability\nCoach on the job, in the work, rather than in a scheduled session about the work\n\nHold process adherence where it matters and challenge it where it does not\n\nRecognize contribution specifically, so the team knows what good looked like\n\nDomain Depth for This Posting\nBuild and maintain team-level understanding of Connexus data foundations, including student, enrollment, curriculum, assessment, progress, attendance, and school operations data, so delivery decisions are grounded in the domain.\n\nLead the team's migration and cutover execution for assigned domains, including legacy behavior analysis, reconciliation, rollback planning, dependency coordination, and production-readiness validation.\n\nGuide engineers in translating legacy SQL Server, stored procedure, and .NET behavior into durable PostgreSQL schemas, APIs, events, and domain contracts, while ensuring designs are reviewed and understood across dependent teams.\n\nApply policy-aware data access expectations for K-12 education systems, including FERPA-sensitive data boundaries, externalized authorization, and audit-ready controls, through planning, delivery reviews, and release readiness.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n2+ years managing engineers who ship to production, including hiring, performance, and development\n\nA working engineering background, enough to review a technical decision and to be credible with engineers operating at our bar for AI-fluent engineering\n\nExperience delivering a model-backed or agentic capability to real users, including how it was evaluated before release and monitored afterward\n\nPracticed at holding a quality gate under delivery pressure, and able to describe a time you held one and a time you should have\n\nExperience managing across a legacy and a target platform at the same time, where the team cannot stop shipping on either\n\nComfortable managing a distributed team across time zones, with the written discipline that requires\n\nExperience in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments; K-12 and FERPA exposure an advantage\n\nRelevant degree or equivalent practical experience\n\nSkills and Experience\nThe skills and experiencethis role isassessed against.\nCore skills\nAdaptability\n\nArtificial Intelligence\n\nLearning to Learn\n\nEngineering fundamentals\nCollaboration\n\nInformation Security\n\nInnovation\n\nProblem Solving\n\nTechnical Acumen\n\nRole-specific skills\nAPI Management\n\nCloud Computing\n\nData Security\n\nDevOps\n\nEthical Responsibility\n\nResilience Planning\n\nSoftware Design\n\nEmerging skills\nAI Agents\n\nAutomated Artificial Intelligence (AutoAI)\n\nSpecialist depth for this role\nLarge Language Models (LLMs)\n\nGenerative AI\n\nEvaluation of AI-Generated Content Quality\n\nPerformance Management\n\nCode Review\n\nOverseeing delivery of AI-enabled capabilities and holding the release gate\n\nMeasuring and reporting team adoption of AI tooling\n\nBuilding reusable engineering tooling and evaluation suites that other teams adopt","description_format":"text","description_chars":5980,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":2,"management_years_min":2,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Events & Ticketing","Sporting Events"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-14T14:53:06Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":19,"reasons":["conf:2","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-15T01:06:44Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/pearson-vue-software-engineering-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/pearson-vue-software-engineering-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-15T01:06:44Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1338,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-16T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":94619},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=94619"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fpearson-vue-software-engineering-manager"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fpearson-vue-software-engineering-manager"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fpearson-vue-software-engineering-manager"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/pearson-vue-software-engineering-manager\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fpearson-vue-software-engineering-manager"}]}
