These jobs are open to all abilities but Peckham gives preference to individuals with disabilities.\nJob Description\nPeckham Inc. - Apparel Sewing Apprentice Trainee I\nImportant Details:\nWage: $13.73 per hour\n\nHours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday plus overtime as necessary\n\nFull-Time positions only\n\nSewing experience preferred but not required\n\nLocation: 3510 Capital City Blvd Lansing, MI 48906\n\nWhy Work at Peckham - Peckham\n\nSign-On Bonus: $600 Total\nReceive $300 after 90 days of employment.\nReceive an additional $300 after successfully completing 180 days of employment.\nSUMMARY\nThis entry-level Apparel Sewing Apprentice Trainee is responsible for accurately aligning fabric and garment components under machine needles using guides such as templates, clamps, and notches. The position involves basic sewing operations, garment handling, and quality checks. Successful candidates must complete a 2-week Apparel Sewing Training program and an initial training period.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nOperate single-needle and basic automated sewing machines\nAlign and sew garment parts using guides and templates\nTrim excess threads and prepare garments for packaging\nInspect garments and perform basic repairs\nMaintain a clean and safe work environment\nFollow LEAN and 5S principles\nSupport ISO-9001 and quality management systems\nParticipate in safety and ergonomic programs\nMeet or exceed a 90% proficiency rating on assigned tasks\nPerform other related duties as assigned\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nAt least 18 years of age\nSuccessfully passing pre-hire sewing assessment\nSuccessful completion of 2-week Apparel Sewing Training program if required\nSuccessful completion of initial training period\nAbility to count and follow instructions\nFrequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nAbility to receive constructive feedback\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nAbility to stand, walk, handle materials, and sit for extended periods of time\nAbility to reach with hands and arms\nAbility to thread needles\nAbility to see stitches\nAbility to visually see color\nAbility to work in an environment with moderate noise level\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
