These jobs are open to all abilities but Peckham gives preference to individuals with disabilities.\nPeckham Inc. - Manufacturing Machine Operator I\nSUMMARY:\nThe Machine Operator I is responsible for operating manufacturing equipment to support fabric spreading & cutting OR cut component/dye cut production functions. Based on business needs, this role may work in one primary area or be cross trained to support both. Responsibilities include machine operation, material handling, inspection, documentation, and adherence to quality and safety standards. Operators ensure accurate cutting, component preparation, and material usage reporting while maintaining productivity and contributing to a clean and safe work environment.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n*Employee may perform duties in one area or cross-functionally in both*\nSpreading & Cutting Responsibilities:\nOperate spreading machines to lay fabric evenly and inspect for defects\nLoad correct markers before initiating cuts\nVerify shade consistency, count plies, and ensure accurate fabric layering\nSet machine parameters and markers based on pattern requirements\nMove spreads to cutting area and operate cutting machines to cut patterns\nTroubleshoot cutting issues and adjust machine settings as needed\nRecord fabric yardage and support ERP/Shop Floor entry tasks\nEnsure quality and utilization targets are met\nCut Component/Dye Cut Responsibilities:\nOperate Ink stamp equipment, Eagle Laser equipment, cutting equipment for components such as Velcro, elastic, webbing, zipper tape, hook/loop, labels, etc.\nLoad/unload components, separate sizes/colors, and maintain labeling accuracy\nMonitor machines, clean equipment, and report malfunctions\nFollow FIFO workflow and support component release schedules\nMaintain component inventory accuracy and assist in distribution to production\nGeneral Responsibilities (Applies to All Work Areas)\nMaintain excellent attendance, communication, professionalism, and teamwork\nParticipate in safety and ergonomic programs\nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation\nAssist with training and cross-training of employees when requested\nPerform other duties as assigned based on production needs\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nNo prior experience is required, training is provided\n18 years of age or older\nBasic reading, communication, and math skills\nAbility to follow written, verbal, or diagram instructions\nBasic computer skills and detail-oriented work habits\nAbility to identify defects, errors, and machine issues\nWillingness to perform either Spreading/Cutting OR Component Cutting, with cross-training potential\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nRegular standing, walking, reaching, and lifting\nLift/move up to 40lbs frequently and up to 80lbs occasionally\nExposure to moving mechanical parts or airborne particles\nRequires color vision and depth perception\nModerate noise level working environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
