What you will do:

The Lead COTA Supervisor provides quality services to children and their families through evaluation, intervention planning, and direct supervision of multiple COTAs.

  • Responsible for all aspects of the delivery of occupational therapy services involving evaluation implementation, addendums, intervention planning, and discharge paperwork.
  • Evaluate children using appropriate protocols, tools, etc. to follow funding guidelines for each child. 
  • Create appropriate goals and objectives to be submitted with each evaluation.
  • Provide oversight to the COTA to ensure competency of clinical reasoning and performance of specific treatment intervention methods related to the practice of occupational therapy.
  • Assist with onboarding of COTAs, including caseload review, paperwork processes, etc.
  • Follow all guidelines as set by the Arkansas State Medical Board for supervision of a COTA.
  • Provide onsite, face-to-face supervision, to the COTA a minimum of 1 hour per 40 OT work hours performed by the COTA to review child’s progress and objectives.
  • Responsible for scheduling all evaluations, treatment sessions, and team meetings.
  • Review notes to ensure accuracy and make sure they meet funding source requirements.
  • Provide direct treatment to each child once a month on COTA caseload to review child’s progress and objectives.
  • Sign monthly log documenting supervision activities such as date of supervision, time, type of communication, information discussed, and outcomes of the interaction. The COTA will be responsible for maintaining this log for a period of 3 years.
  • Complete additional paperwork requirements in an accurate and timely manner as notified by administration. Such requirements include, but are not limited to: Annual re-evaluations, addendums, discharge summaries, and early intervention paperwork (if required).

What you have:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
  • Must be willing to work with children from birth to 21 and their families.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents.
  • Ability to author routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of the organization.
  • Basic computer skills which include a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet software.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Reports for work dressed appropriately and complies with company policies regarding the dress code.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Minimal travel may be required to supervise COTAs from multiple locations within a 30-mile radius.    

Education/ Certification:

  • Current, unrestricted license to practice occupational therapy in the state of Arkansas as approved by the Arkansas State Medical Board
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • Must have completed 1 year of clinical experience, pediatric setting preferred

Physical Demands:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to accurately communicate information and ideas so others will understand through sight and hearing. The employee is regularly required to move including walking, running, and sitting. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, lift, reach, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
