A Class A CDL will be required for all transport. Driving schedules will include day and night driving, and drivers will need to be flexible to meet required delivery of raw material and finished good schedules. These are full-time positions and paid per hour.\n(Pay Range: $28 to $33 an hour + OT)\n ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nDeliver Pella products via tandem tractor/trailer as scheduled by Corporate Logistics Load Planning Department.\n\nPick up and deliver items from vendors on an as-needed/scheduled basis, while ensuring on-time delivery\n\nPerform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in compliance with DOT regulations.\n\nMaintain a neat and clean appearance at all times.\nMust consistently demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions with customers, colleagues, and the public.\nAttend all required safety and performance meetings.\nDriver must abide by all DOT regulations and will be accountable for all CSA incidents. \nOperate a Class A commercial vehicle safely and efficiently over long distances.\nFollow all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks using ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices).\nSecure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.\nCommunicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.\n QUALIFICATIONS\nValid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)\n\nMinimum of 1 year of OTR driving experience preferred.\n\nClean driving record with no major violations.\n\nAbility to pass a DOT physical and drug test.\n\nStrong understanding of FMCSA regulations and compliance.\n\nWillingness to be on the road for extended periods (varies by route and company policy).\n\nHave no more than three (3) recorded moving violations within a three-year period as a driver of commercial or private vehicle.\n\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE \nMust be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Class A CDL drivers license.\n\nKnowledge and/or experience of driving in large metropolitan areas preferred.\n\nMust have safe driving record.\n\nMust be familiar with all DOT regulations.\n\nLANGUAGE SKILLS \nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\n\nAbility to document details and convey correspondence.\n\nAbility to interpret and understand shipment paperwork for both inbound and outbound freight.\n\nMATHEMATICAL SKILLS \nAbility to calculate figures to correctly complete logbook requirements and understand monthly performance reports for the equipment and driver.\n\nREASONING ABILITY \nAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.\n\nAbility to deal with problems involving variability in standardized situations.\n\nAbility to read a map and take direction.\n\nCOMPUTER SKILLS \nBasic computer skills preferred.\n\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS \nMust have only one valid CDL license.\n\nMust have current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. All sensory requirements will be tested by an approved DOT physician.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a driver encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the driver will be exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.
