Working knowledge of network and server hardware and the desire to participate in projects at a large-scale data center is central to this role. This position will work to resolve and diagnose network issues at scale, escalate issues, and work with engineering teams. Additionally, this role will support rack lifecycle processes with a focus on helping build out and support cloud scale network and storage environments. Solid communication skills are a requirement for this role. This person should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and flexibility will be key to their success. Penguin supports HPC environments where performance is critical.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop network configurations and architectures, both project-based and roadmap aligned.\nDesign, enhance and maintain both InfiniBand and Ethernet networks.\nValidate the network infrastructure with Solutions Architects and other field engineers for solutions to customers’ needs.\nLead and perform on-going maintenance and upgrades to network equipment.\nMaintain meticulous documentation for internal and external build instructions - such as configuration examples, guidance on technical details, and best practices.\nCoordinate with vendors and other related organizations for problem resolution.\nInteract with internal and external teams and operate across organizations as needed.\nEngage in learning and researching new technologies and developments.\nSupport a Linux-based, high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) environment, featuring a wide range of technologies.\nDocument processes, procedures, and all work performed.\nDevelop automation and other tools to improve operations.\nParticipate in growing Penguin Computing's technical capabilities through knowledge-sharing and team activities.\nQualifications\n8+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise scale networks.\nIn-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment.\nExtensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center network equipment.\nExceptional ability to work as part of a team, be an escalation point for technical support, and resolve problems.\nAbility to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies.\nProven experience with both InfiniBand (NVIDIA) and Ethernet (Cumulus/Arista/ Juniper) networks.\nProficiency in documenting network processes.\nParticipation in weekly on-call rotation.\nWillingness to respond to network and server errors after hours.\nAbility to speak English and communicate clearly and effectively with team members and clients.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in managing RDMA and/or RoCE environments.\nHands-on experience configuring and supporting large scale Ethernet and InfiniBand networks.\nDemonstrated practice with low-latency, high-bandwidth networking performance optimization.\nExperience with VXLAN and EVPN architectures and routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.\nKnowledge of HPC communication libraries such as NCCL, UCX and MPI and GPU networking capabilities such as NVLink and NVSwitch.\nFamiliarity with UFM or OpenSM network management software.\nLocation\nHybrid -
