The Press Operator operates a hydraulic extrusion press and an extrusion puller in a safe and efficient manner ensuring proper quality and highest productivity standards are met.\nResponsibilities\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nSets billet length, furnace temperature controls, ram speed and puller program for optimum production and quality.\nWatches metal for quality problems, such as pick up, tear out and die lines. Makes appropriate changes to operating set up to try to correct. Reports problems and works with Foremen and Lead Person to improve productivity/quality.\nAssists lead out position with set ups, tear downs and changeovers.\nRolls logs when needed.\nMinimizes downtime during die changeover by having bolster and next die ready for production.\nEnsures lead out knows what the next die change is, when it is and what is needed to complete set up.\nChanges dummy blocks as directed by management.\nChecks dies and bolsters ensuring set up properly before starting that job.\nAssists with set up of water boxes, water pans, cooling fans and other special requirements for various alloys.\nRegularly checks all equipment reporting immediately any possible problems to the Shift Foreman or Lead Person.\nCompletes daily Press Operator preventative maintenance (PM) and fills out PM checklist.\nBefore turning press over to maintenance for repairs and/or assisting with performing yourself, makes sure power is off on press and the computer.\nFills out any necessary paperwork during shift.\nMaintains a neat and orderly work area and assist with general housekeeping of the press department.\nFollows company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nQualifications\nIdeal Candidate Will Have:\nEducation\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\nExperience\nOne or more years of experience and/or training\nPrefer previous hydraulic press operation or minimum of metal machining experience.\nOther Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\nAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. \nAbility to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.\nAbility to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.\nAbility to operate tow motor, function independently or in a team environment and possess good verbal and written communication skills.\nHighly motivated, self-driven, and eager to learn and apply new skills\nAttentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments.\nMust have regular attendance.\nMust be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.\nMust be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.\nEnvironmental Hazards\nPhysical\nThe employee is regularly required to stand.\nThe employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.\nThe employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.\nThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.\nSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.\nWork Environment\nThe employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.\nThe noise level in the work environment is usually loud.\nAbout Us\nPerks of the Job\nMedical, dental and vision insurance\nDisability and life insurance\n401(k) with matching contribution\nGenerous allotment of paid vacation and paid holidays\nCompetitive wages plus performance-based bonus opportunities\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\nOngoing training and professional development\nOpportunity for career growth and advancement\nDaily pay available\nWhy Our People Love Working Here\nPurpose-driven, friendly, open and respectful culture\nShared core values of safety, caring, integrity and growth\nEmployee discount program with hundreds of partner brands\nUp to $5000 tuition reimbursement\nWellness incentive program\nRegular employee celebrations and events\nWho We Are\nFounded nearly half a century ago, Pennex continues to see rapid growth as a leading provider of quality aluminum cast products and extrusions.
