The Data Scientist will work on 1-2 projects concurrently under the supervision of senior members of the Data Science team. The projects at this level will vary from small and straightforward to large and complex. Similarly, impact can range from team/department level up to organization-wide. The Data Scientist provides analysis and assists in developing machine-learning models, complex analysis, data visualiation and automation capabilities to solve business problems. Such efforts require cross-functional involvement from various disciplines across the organization.\nMajor Responsibilities:\nData evaluation and analysis:\nAssist in identifying appropriate data sources to answer business question\nExtract, blend, cleanse, and organize data\nVisualize data\nIdentify (and ameliorate) outliers and missing or incomplete records in the data\nAnalyze data to identify the root cause for the given problem statement\nCreate reporting and identify opportunities to bring in automation to the process\nSetup a streamlined process for data ingestion as per the business case\nModel building and implementation\nParticipate in the identification of appropriate techniques and algorithms for building model\nCreate and test model\nBuild application and embed model\nCommunication\n\n Proactive approach to build network connections within the team\nEngage in best practices discussions with other team members regarding modeling activities\nDiscuss project activities and results with team\nHelp in the documentation and presentation of project stories\nAbility to create and present during executive meetings\nIdentify opportunities for savings and process improvement:\nCollaborate with various stakeholders to identify business problems\nHelp conduct ROI analysis to determine project feasibility\nHelp build business case to solve such business problems\nOther projects as assigned by the supervisor\nQualifications:\nMasters degree required, concentration in Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, or related quantitative field preferred\n1+ years experience along with a Master’s degree in data or business analytics\n1 year of experience designing and building machine learning applications using either structured or unstructured datasets is required. Practical experience programming using Python, R or other high level scripting languages is required. Demonstrated experience with one or more machine learning techniques including logistic regression, decision trees, random forests and clustering is required. Knowledge and experience with SQL is required.\nExperience in the following areas:\n-Machine learning (intermediate)\n-Statistical modeling (elementary)\n-Supervised learning (intermediate)\n-Statistical computing packages (e.g., R) (elementary)\n-Scripting languages (e.g., Python) (intermediate)\nExperience using Microsoft Office Suite\nAbility to collect and analyze complex data\nMust be able to translate data insights into action\nMust be able to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines\nMust be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form\nStrong communication skills required\nMust have strong time management skills\nRegular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job\nWillingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.\nPhysical Requirements:\n-The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
