Do you have what IT takes?\nSummary Statement:\nYou will play a critical role joining our expansive team in building and maintaining our leading edge Kubernetes hosting environments focusing on RedHat OpenShift and supporting our existing enterprise Linux infrastructure.\nWhat you will be doing:\nSystems Engineers implement, support, maintain, and manage IT services, including networking, IT security, email, and disaster recovery. Systems Engineers provide advanced technical support for desktop, server, and networking issues. Systems Engineers ensure all IT services are properly maintained and upgraded, including anti-virus, backups, imaging, and patching. Systems Engineers provide subject matter expertise for both hardware and software.\nAs a Penske Web Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for building and operating our Kubernetes and Linux based systems maintained by Penske Truck Leasing (PTL) IT Delivery Services (ITDS).You will be responsible for project planning and management, as well as system implementation and documentation. You will also be responsible for system improvements as well as disaster recovery in relation to the Penske’s Web Services environment.\nPenske Responsibilities:\nMonitor existing Kubernetes and Linux systems to ensure structural integrity\nInstall, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Kubernetes and associated middleware platforms\nand components.\nProvide technical direction to IT support staff\nManages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure for the organization to be in line with company guidelines or SOP (standard operating procedure).\nAssists in the coordination of various teams testing and evaluating for the development of design and its implementation of the best output.\nInstalls, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools.\nEnsures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability.\nResponsible for building and operating the Kubernetes Web Services and Linux based systems maintained by PTL ITDS. This includes; project planning and management, system implementation, monitoring and maintaining documentation.\nBuild and maintain leading edge technical systems.This includes planning, analysis and design as well as quality assurance.Perform process analysis and improvement in relation to management of the environment.\nResponsible for maintaining and implementing disaster recovery plan documentation, system performance and availability measures, testing and coordination of new systems and maintaining system backups.\nProvide 7x24x365 support for the PTL ITDS Web Environments.\nBuild and document the secondary systems used to provide PTL ITDS Web Services environments.\nDetermine and Implement automated process scripts using Ansible, Terraform or other IaC tools\nMaintain automated monitoring and alerting processes for the PTL ITDS Web environment.\nCoordinate system changes and deploys within other IT groups\nSupport Authentication environments both on premise and in the cloud.\nMake recommendations on Developer code deployments and rollbacks.\nMake recommendations on system repair priorities and methods.\nManaging Product/Software Configurations for enhancements in desktop, lab, and production (Dev, UAT, Prod) server environments.\nDeveloping and maintaining documentation; participating in the development of departmental technical procedures and operational guidelines.\nPenske Qualifications:\nAssociate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or related field preferred. If no degree, then at least 3 years of specific (function) experience required.\nMinimum of 3 years of hands-on systems engineering and IT support in production Kubernetes containerized environments.\nAdvanced level Linux / Middleware skills.\nFoundational knowledge of GIT, Kubernetes, Docker/Podman (containerized workloads)\nExperience in performance tuning, performance problem resolution and managing web hosting partners is required\nProven track record of success\nExperience creating automated scripts\nKnowledge of enterprise networks and structure\nCloud knowledge\nMust be able to lead and manage a technical project\nNice-to-Have skills include GitOps, OpenShift, Java/Python containerized support experience and foundational OIDC authentication knowledge\nGood level of understanding of networks, security and databases.\nLinux both on premise and AWS.Open source and purchased middleware products such as webservers, application servers, database servers, api management gateways, single-sign-on software, identity management software, etl software, collaboration software, etc.\nRegular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.\nWillingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.\nEEO Statement\nPenske is an Equal Opportunity Employer.\nPhysical Requirements:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
