About the Role
The Medior QA Automation Engineer is an experienced, technically competent individual contributor responsible for ensuring the quality of our software solutions with automated testing solutions. They lead quality assurance initiatives, own and support testing processes, and champion Continuous Delivery practices within the team. By driving modern, collaborative approaches, they facilitate best-in-class engineering outcomes.
The role actively collaborates with their team, product managers, analysts, and designers to deliver exceptional, high-quality software solutions. They play a key role in influencing our engineering function to promote and foster robust quality assurance practices. Along with their Engineering Team Lead, they develop and execute a roadmap to uplift the application over time.
With leadership support, they own the quality assurance strategy and test plans, working closely with the team to meet delivery objectives and ensuring the appropriate testing frameworks and tools are in place to support these objectives.
They champion the team's success, drive thoughtful conversation during tech huddles and retrospectives, and encourage others to develop their knowledge of modern engineering practices.
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Team Lead, Budapest, Hungary. What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain automated API, integration and regression tests
- Build automation for assigned features and extend existing test frameworks
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines
- Investigate test failures and improve test reliability
- Collaborate with developers and Manual QA to identify automation opportunities
- Manage test data and communicate test results and quality risks
- Contribute to test planning, refinement and continuous QA improvements
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of QA experience, including hands-on automation
- Practical TypeScript programming skills
- Experience with automated testing frameworks for API/integration testing
- Experience testing APIs, backend services and integrations
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
- Practical SQL skills and experience using logs to investigate failures
- Understanding of maintainable test design, test isolation and repeatable test data
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Payments or financial-services testing experience is a plus
