The Technical Instructor will deliver Per Scholas’ structured and approved curriculum in full-time technical training. \nWHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: \nPer Scholas is seeking a multi-talented Instructor and Technology professional to deliver high-quality instruction to a diverse student population who are seeking to acquire skills and credentials that will prepare them for career opportunities in technology. Technical training competencies include, but are not limited to: hardware, software, networking, security, server, mobility, virtualization, and project management. \nWHAT YOU’LL DO \nDeliver classroom training in a highly interactive style to prepare adult students for entry-level to mid-level careers in Information Technology\nProvide daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance, one-on-one tutoring, evaluation, and monitoring of individual student progress\nManage student behavior, monitor and enforce student class attendance, dress code, and other program policies in a consistent manner as a partner with your peers in the professional development of all adult learners\nWork in collaboration with the Senior Director, Program Development and Design to identify and continually evaluate and evolve the curriculum as new technologies become available \n Work closely with the Program team to identify student needs, provide the necessary support, establish individualized plans for student achievement, and participate in regular student status meetings\nMaintain and update Salesforce and Canvas with student grades, certification, scores, and progress notes\nProvide students with insight into career tracks within the field and advise on career opportunities and types of positions that would be commensurate with their skills and credentials\nWork with Business Solutions to recommend students for particular employment opportunities \nCreate, submit and maintain training curricula for approval and files\nWork closely with staff in other sites to ensure the integrity of implementing the model\nOrder books, materials, and vouchers for exams in advance of training\nParticipate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, employer visits, and professional events as applicable\nPerform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program\nMeet professional teacher education requirements of school and state\nParticipate in appropriate professional activities and development\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING \nProfessional Qualifications \nRequired Experience \nAt least 1 year of teaching experience\nAt least 1 year of IT Work experience\nExperience with curriculum, syllabus development, and lesson planning a plus\nExperience with methods and strategies to explain and clarify complex topics to students with diverse experiences and educational backgrounds\nAbility to connect real-life work scenarios to the teaching environment\nAbility to help students apply professional skills to their delivery and participation in the classroom\nExperience with student assessment; and a talent to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum Ability to analyze and synthesize technical information\nExceptional capacity to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to continuous changes in curriculum to stay current in the industry\nPreferred Experience \nBachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)\n3 years + of IT work experience\nExperience teaching technical courses\nExperience teaching remotely\nExperience in workforce development\nTechnical Qualifications\nRequired \nCurrent A+ certification (Current Edition 1200 Series)\nGoogle IT Support Professional Certificate\nNetwork+ Certification (Current edition N10-007)\nExperience implementing network technologies in business environments with a focus on the deployment of TCP/IP suite protocols\nAdvanced knowledge of Windows, Apple, and Linux Operating Systems; this includes both end-user and server versions\nThorough understanding of security concepts, models, and standards; experience with implementation in business environments\nPreferred \nLinux production experience\nKnowledge of cloud services technologies i.e. AWS, Azure, OpenStack\nAdditional Industry certifications are a plus\nPersonal Characteristics\nYou thrive in a creative, inventive, fast-paced startup environment with people who are passionate about their work and mission\nYou are data-driven, result-oriented, and a forward-looking catalyst for social change\nYou have a collaborative and flexible work style.
