In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of the Navy’s Power & Energy Division, developing critical capabilities to support the fleet.\nWhat you will do:\nThe primary duties include serving as a team member in support of battery system development, evaluation, and certification. You should have a good working knowledge of modern battery system technology to include battery systems components, characteristics, and performance. You should also have knowledge, skill and experience in the development and evaluation of performance requirements, design criteria, processes, and analysis methods related to aircraft battery systems and their components. You should also be knowledgeable of potential battery system technology advancement areas and have the ability to work with industry and academia partners in the development and maturation of these technologies.\nResponsibilities:\nYou may be required to assist the battery team lead and/or SME in the critical review of technical reports and products. Some of these products include:\nMIL specs and associated slash sheets\nContractor/vendor progress reports\nQualification test plans/Qualification test reports\nLithium battery safety certification recommendation letters\nOther requirements may include:\nAssisting and/or leading in the development of Battery Test & Evaluation Lab (BTEL) revitalization proposals and lab equipment integration\nSupporting the Electric Mission Support Equipment Infrastructure and Management Study. Evaluating the potential for replacing current diesel-powered Support Equipment (SE) with battery-powered replacements.\nSupporting the Common Affordable Safe Energy Storage (CASES) Program to include Tri-service battery commonality efforts and associated activities\nReview and adjudicate lithium battery safety certification requests and provide recommendations to Navy customers\nLead Small Business innovation research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), and Naval Innovation Science & Engineering (NISE) project efforts related to developmental battery systems.\nQualifications\nMinimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD\nWhat you will need:\nMinimum requirements are a BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or similar degree, and experience working with battery systems.\nAt least 3 years’ experience in aircraft battery systems to include both developmental and fielded battery systems.\nSecret security clearance or the ability to obtain\nU.S. citizenship is required\nPreferred:\nMust be able to work well as part of a team and independently.\nPresentation skills capable of defending a technical position and/or recommendation.\nGood communication skills, and knowledge and experience in procedures for writing technical procedures for a non-technical audience.\nPeraton Overview\nPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
