Visit peraton.com to learn how we’re keeping people around the world safe and secure.\nResponsibilities\nPeraton is seeking a DevSecOps / CI/CD Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure software delivery pipelines for a mission-critical enterprise platform supporting an Intelligence Community customer. The platform provides a standardized development and deployment environment across multiple classified enclaves, built on a zero trust, hub-and-spoke architecture.\nIn this role, you will independently develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines that automate software builds, testing, security validation, artifact management, and deployment. You will integrate security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle, implement reusable automation, and help establish consistent delivery practices across platform services and tenant applications.\nWorking closely with platform engineering, cybersecurity, integration and test, and operations teams, you will help improve software delivery speed, reliability, and security while generating the technical evidence needed to support RMF authorization and continuous ATO. Your work will directly contribute to delivering secure, dependable capabilities to mission users.\nWhat You Will Do\nPipeline Engineering and Automation\nDesign, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform services, infrastructure components, and tenant applications using GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or similar technologies.\n\nAutomate software builds, testing, packaging, artifact management, and deployment to containerized environments using Kubernetes, EKS, OpenShift, or similar platforms.\n\nImplement GitOps practices, including source control management, branching strategies, release versioning, and declarative deployment workflows.\n\nDevelop reusable pipeline templates, shared automation, and self-service tooling to standardize workflows and accelerate development team onboarding.\n\nImplement infrastructure and deployment automation using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar tools.\n\nTroubleshoot complex pipeline failures and improve build, test, and deployment processes across development and production environments.\n\nSecurity Integration and Continuous Authorization\nIntegrate automated security controls into CI/CD pipelines, including SAST, DAST, software composition analysis, container image scanning, secrets detection, and code quality checks.\n\nImplement processes for managing hardened base images, approved artifact repositories, and secure software dependencies.\n\nGenerate and maintain SBOMs, security scan results, and other pipeline artifacts supporting RMF authorization, auditability, and continuous ATO.\n\nImplement secure artifact versioning, validation, and promotion processes across environments, coordinating with cross-domain engineering teams when transfers between classification levels are required.\n\nCollaborate with cybersecurity personnel to remediate pipeline security findings and improve compliance with established security requirements.\n\nSupport the integration of security policies and automated enforcement mechanisms into software delivery workflows.\n\nPipeline Operations and Optimization\nMonitor pipeline health, performance, reliability, and execution metrics to identify and resolve recurring issues.\n\nTrack and analyze delivery metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and recovery time.\n\nIdentify and implement improvements to pipeline efficiency, reliability, repeatability, and security.\n\nCoordinate release planning and deployments with platform engineering, integration and test, cybersecurity, and operations teams.\n\nDocument pipeline architectures, configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidance.\n\nProvide technical guidance to development teams adopting standardized DevSecOps practices and automated delivery workflows.\n\nLocation: This position is fully onsite in Chantilly, VA.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nActive TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience; additional 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.\n\nHands-on experience independently designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in a production environment.\n\nExperience automating software builds, testing, artifact management, and deployment to containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.\n\nExperience integrating automated security scanning into CI/CD pipelines, including application security testing, dependency analysis, container scanning, or secrets detection.\n\nProficiency with Git and scripting languages such as Bash or Python.\n\nWorking knowledge of infrastructure as code and deployment automation using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar technologies.\n\nDoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, or the ability to obtain the required certification within the applicable timeframe.\n\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience delivering software across multiple classified enclaves or disconnected environments.\n\nExperience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community software factories, hardened container image programs, or continuous ATO processes.\n\nFamiliarity with zero trust architecture and policy-as-code tools, such as OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno.\n\nExperience managing artifact repositories, such as Artifactory, Nexus, or Harbor, and code quality platforms, such as SonarQube.\n\nExperience with observability tools for monitoring pipeline performance and deployed services.\n\nKubernetes certification, such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS, and/or a cloud professional certification.\n\nPrior experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD mission programs.\n\nTarget Salary Range\n$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
