Additionally, developing embedded devices and modules to power, generate, and receive signals for prototypes and field-deployable systems is a critical component of this job. The ability to read, comprehend and generate professional quality design documentation is a required capability for this position.\nJob Purpose\nThis position will support the design, development, testing and operational phases of projects\nundertaken at PERATON Labs, the research and development arm of PERATON corporation. This position requires the successful candidate to work closely with a diverse team of engineering, scientific and technical staff to develop novel solutions in support of such projects.\nDuties and Responsibilities Include:\nDesigning, developing, and testing of experimental and production systems. \nProviding engineering oversight of junior technical staff when appropriate. \nProviding hands-on work to test electronics, diagnose failures and render repairs if needed. \nDeveloping and reviewing technical documentation packages including schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and test plans. \nDesigning and supporting the development of embedded computing and signal processing designs, interfaces. \nProviding expertise in analyzing analog and digital circuitry with both documented and undocumented designs. \nPreparing design review material such as presentations, reports, simulation results, analysis and other key communicable components for both internal and external design reviews. \nQualifications\nRequired Education and Work Experience\nThe successful candidate has diversified knowledge of principles and practices in engineering.\nA degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering is required with the following experience levels:\nBS with 5 or more years of experience. \nMS with 3 or more years of experience. \nPhD with 0 or more years of experience. \n(Experience must be with relevant work in a professional setting)\nRequired Skills/Attributes\nExperienced in generating and reading State Machine, Logic, Flow, and Interconnection Diagrams. \nExperience with Schematic and PCB layout tools such as KiCad. \nExperience with simulation software (e.g., spice). \nSkilled in electrical circuit testing and analysis including prototyping sub-systems as required to produce a viable design. \nExperience creating electrical sub-systems and prototypes for field deployable systems using fully customized designs, or adapter modules to connect to existing equipment. \nFamiliarity with lab/bench hardware such as oscilloscopes, power supplies (AC and DC), waveform generators and spectrum analyzers. \nAbility to communicate designs through presentations and comfortable presenting material for review to a wide audience. \nFamiliar with C, C++, Python, or MATLAB + Simulink for automating data collection and analysis. \nExperience working with analog data acquisition and signal conditioning techniques. \nExperience with designing and troubleshooting cabling and interconnectivity. \nProficient in writing technical documentation in MS word and PowerPoint. \nAbility to be onsite five days a week when required. \nAbility to obtain Secret clearance. \nU.S. Citizenship. \nDesired Skills/Attributes\nExperience with mechanical or optical engineering. \nExperience with in-depth analysis of electrical systems for reverse engineering. \nExperience with using version control and configuration management. \nTarget Salary Range\n$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
