This is a hands-on development role serving as the technical bridge between UX Design and Development, transforming approved Figma designs and prototypes into polished, accessible, responsive, and functional user interfaces.\nThe role combines front-end development, UX/UI design skills, Figma proficiency, AI-assisted development, rapid prototyping, and emerging technology to ensure design intent is maintained through implementation.\nThe Front-End UI Developer is expected to operate within the UX team’s Raising the Bar standards, bringing commercial-grade quality, craftsmanship, communication, velocity, and attention to detail to every deliverable.\nHands-On UI Development\nDirectly develop and implement production-quality front-end interfaces, not simply provide recommendations or development guidance.\nTranslate high-fidelity Figma designs and interactive prototypes into functional UI code.\nBuild responsive interfaces using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, or applicable modern frameworks.\nSupport UI development across responsive web, native mobile/iOS, SharePoint, Sitecore, and enterprise platforms.\nDevelop reusable UI components, interaction patterns, design tokens, and front-end design-system elements.\nPartner with backend engineering to integrate polished presentation layers with APIs, services, data, and enterprise systems.\nConduct implementation reviews and directly correct UI inconsistencies when appropriate.\nUX-to-Development Liaison\nServe as the primary technical bridge between UX and development, protecting design intent throughout implementation.\nWork directly within Figma alongside UX designers to understand interaction behavior, responsive rules, component states, accessibility requirements, and design rationale.\nIdentify technical considerations early enough to influence designs before development handoff.\nEnsure production interfaces accurately reflect approved designs across layout, typography, spacing, hierarchy, interaction, responsiveness, animation, and component behavior.\nHelp eliminate the traditional gap between a polished UX prototype and the final developed product.\nAI-Enabled Development\nActively incorporate AI-assisted development tools into daily workflows to increase speed, quality, and delivery capacity.\nUse AI to accelerate code generation, refactoring, debugging, prototyping, documentation, accessibility evaluation, test creation, design-to-code workflows, and technical exploration.\nUse AI to rapidly transform concepts and Figma designs into functional prototypes and proofs of concept.\nEvaluate AI-generated code and output through human technical judgment, security requirements, accessibility standards, performance, and maintainability.\nContinuously evaluate emerging AI capabilities that can improve the UX-to-development workflow.\nAI is expected to increase capability and velocity-not replace engineering judgment.\nRapid Prototyping & Emerging Technology\nBuild functional prototypes supporting Phase Zero, Art of the Possible, usability testing, and stakeholder demonstrations.\nRapidly explore new interaction models before significant development investment.\nSupport experiences across native mobile/iOS, wearables, VR/XR, mixed reality, spatial computing, immersive technology, and emerging platforms.\nCollaborate with UX Architects and Designers to determine when emerging technology provides meaningful user or mission value.\nQuality & Craft\nDeliver interfaces that meet the UX team’s commercial-grade quality standard.\nMaintain pixel-level attention to spacing, alignment, typography, responsive behavior, component consistency, states, motion, and interaction details.\nBenchmark implementation quality against leading commercial digital products.\nEnsure front-end experiences meet Section 508, WCAG, semantic markup, keyboard navigation, responsive design, and inclusive-design requirements.\nTreat accessibility, performance, responsiveness, and visual quality as part of development-not final QA activities.\nFigma & Design Systems\nWork proficiently with Figma Auto Layout, components, variants, variables, Dev Mode, design tokens, responsive layouts, prototypes, and shared libraries.\nMaintain alignment between Figma design-system components and production UI components.\nContribute reusable components and patterns rather than repeatedly solving the same UI problems.\nMaintain clean, scalable, documented component architecture supporting both UX and development teams.\nCollaboration & Raising the Bar\nParticipate in internal design and code reviews before client-facing delivery.\nCollaborate closely with UX Architects, UX Designers, researchers, accessibility specialists, developers, and technical architects.\nCommunicate technical considerations clearly to both design and development teams.\nDemonstrate professional client presence when participating in demonstrations, technical discussions, and stakeholder reviews.\nContribute to shared templates, patterns, documentation, and reusable team resources.\nChallenge implementations that do not meet established UX, accessibility, or quality standards.\nTake ownership of the quality of the presentation layer from Figma through implementation.\nQualifications\nRequired Skills\n5 years with BS/BA or 9 years with a high school diploma. \n5+ years of professional experience in front-end development, UI engineering, UX engineering, or related disciplines.\nStrong hands-on proficiency with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and responsive development.\nExperience with React, Angular, or comparable component-based frameworks.\nStrong proficiency working directly from Figma and modern design systems.\nDemonstrated UX/UI design skills and understanding of interaction design.\nExperience developing polished responsive web and mobile interfaces.\nExperience with SharePoint, Sitecore, or comparable enterprise platforms.\nExperience using AI-assisted coding, development, design, or rapid-prototyping tools.\nExperience developing reusable front-end components and design systems.\nStrong understanding of Section 508, WCAG, semantic HTML, keyboard accessibility, and accessible interaction patterns.\nStrong visual attention to detail and ability to recognize and correct inconsistencies between design and implementation.\nAbility to work effectively across UX, engineering, product, accessibility, and stakeholder teams.\nMust be a U.S. Citizen.\nAbility to obtain a Public Trust clearance.\nPreferred Skills\nNative iOS/mobile development or prototyping experience.\nExperience with wearables, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, Meta Quest, VR/XR, mixed reality, or spatial computing.\nFamiliarity with Unity, Unreal Engine, or immersive development frameworks.\nExperience with USWDS or enterprise-scale design systems.\nAPI integration and modern application architecture experience.\nExperience creating functional prototypes for usability testing and Art of the Possible demonstrations.\nExperience with AI-enabled interfaces, conversational experiences, intelligent agents, or emerging interaction models.\nGovernment, healthcare, or enterprise product experience.\nPeraton Overview\nPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy.
