This internship provides hands-on experience within an enterprise IT and cybersecurity environment while working alongside experienced cybersecurity, systems administration, networking, and other technical professionals.\nDuties are projected to be one day per week, roughly eight hours. The duration of this internship is estimated at one year, or full adjudication of TS/SCI.\nWhat you’ll do:\nThe IT Cybersecurity Intern will be responsible for the following, under the guidance and supervision of senior technical staff, including but not limited to:\nAssist cybersecurity personnel with monitoring and maintaining the security posture of IT systems and infrastructure.\nSupport vulnerability identification, tracking, remediation, and documentation activities.\nAssist with reviewing system security configurations and identifying potential security concerns.\nSupport vulnerability scanning and assessment activities using approved cybersecurity tools.\nAssist with system patching, security updates, and vulnerability remediation efforts.\nSupport Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance and remediation activities.\nAssist with maintaining cybersecurity documentation, reports, checklists, and system records.\nSupport Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and cybersecurity compliance requirements.\nAssist with reviewing security alerts, logs, and events and escalate potential issues to appropriate cybersecurity personnel.\nSupport account management, access control, and user security requirements.\nAssist with endpoint security and system hardening activities.\nWork with Cybersecurity Analysts, Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, Project Managers, and other MIITS personnel to support customer requirements.\nFollow established DoD, Army, organizational, cybersecurity, and information assurance policies and procedures.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications:\nCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree, certificate, or technical training program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.\nBasic understanding of cybersecurity concepts and information security principles.\nBasic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking fundamentals.\nFamiliarity with common networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ports, and firewalls.\nBasic understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, malware, phishing, and common attack methods.\nFamiliarity with Windows operating systems and enterprise IT environments.\nAbility to follow established security procedures and accurately document technical information.\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nStrong willingness and ability to learn cybersecurity technologies, tools, and processes.\nU.S. Citizenship ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance and/or access required for the position.\nDesired qualifications:\nCompTIA Security+ certification or currently working toward Security+.\nCompTIA A+, Network+, or other entry-level IT/cybersecurity certification.\nFamiliarity with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).\nFamiliarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).\nExposure to vulnerability scanning and management tools.\nFamiliarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) concepts or tools.\nBasic understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server.\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure, cloud security, or other cloud computing environments.\nBasic knowledge of PowerShell, Python, or other scripting technologies.\nPrevious IT help desk, cybersecurity, systems administration, networking, or technical internship experience.\nFamiliarity with DoD or U.S. Army IT environments.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPeraton Overview\nPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
