This role focuses on the technical business analysis activities that bridge data engineering and regulatory compliance.\nThe Department of the Interior (DOI), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), and NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) have identified a critical gap in the federal government's ability to conduct comprehensive Endangered Species Act (ESA) research. While FWS operates an authoritative web-based platform for managing data for terrestrial and freshwater species, it does not currently include NMFS marine and anadromous species data forcing agencies to rely on separate, manual processes. This program closes that gap by integrating marine and anadromous species data into the existing FWS platform, creating a single, unified experience for all ESA-listed species.\nWork Location: Remote\nDay to Day Responsibilities:\nConduct detailed source-to-target data mapping analysis for NOAA Fisheries species datasets, documenting field-level transformation rules, data type conversions, and null-handling logic.\nAnalyze NOAA Fisheries data quality issues identified during prototype ingestion and document remediation requirements.\nSupport the Metadata and Authoritative Source Registry by researching and documenting NOAA Fisheries data source attributes, refresh cadences, and data stewardship contacts.\nAssist in the development and documentation of interoperability testing requirements including API connectivity, data exchange protocols, and metadata alignment test cases.\nSupport compliance validation checklist development by documenting validation criteria for species list generation, decision logic, and template content completeness.\nAnalyze live consultation feedback from production and document actionable requirements for system updates.\nSupport the Prototype Ingest Results Report by documenting NOAA Fisheries data quality issues identified during prototype ingestion, including defect descriptions, root cause analysis, and remediation requirements.\nAssist in the development of training metrics dashboard requirements and reporting specifications.\nSupport the compilation of final operational documentation by documenting NOAA Fisheries data refresh procedures. \nQualifications\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree and 2 years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree and 0 years of professional experience, or an Associate’s degree and 4 years of professional experience, or a High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years of professional experience.\nU.S. Citizenship required; must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; all work must be performed within the United States.\nExperience supporting business analysis experience with a focus on data integration or data migration programs.\nExperience with source-to-target data mapping and data quality analysis.\nFamiliarity with API integration concepts and interoperability testing requirements.\nStrong analytical and technical documentation skills.\nExperience supporting federal IT programs.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with NOAA Fisheries or other federal environmental data systems.\nFamiliarity with ETL concepts, data pipelines, or cloud data platforms.\nExperience supporting compliance validation activities on federal programs.\nExperience contributing to program status reports or monthly progress reports.\nECBA or CCBA certification. \nPeraton Overview\nPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
