Visit peraton.com to learn how we’re keeping people around the world safe and secure.\nResponsibilities\nWe are seeking a Junior DevSecOps / CI/CD Engineer to support the development, automation, and maintenance of secure software delivery pipelines for a mission-critical enterprise platform supporting an Intelligence Community customer. The platform provides developers and mission teams with a standardized environment across multiple classified enclaves, leveraging a zero trust, hub-and-spoke architecture.\nIn this role, you will help maintain and improve the automated processes that move software from development through testing and deployment. You will work alongside experienced DevSecOps engineers, platform engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and integration and test teams to support reliable software delivery, integrate security into development workflows, and maintain the pipeline documentation and evidence needed to support continuous authorization.\nThis is an opportunity to apply your technical skills in a collaborative environment while developing your expertise in secure software delivery, containerized platforms, and DevSecOps practices supporting national security missions.\nWhat You Will Do\nPipeline Development and Maintenance\nMaintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or similar technologies.\n\nSupport automated software builds, packaging, artifact management, testing, and deployments to containerized environments.\n\nUse Git for source control, branching strategies, version management, and collaboration across development teams.\n\nMaintain and extend reusable pipeline templates and automation scripts under the guidance of senior engineers.\n\nAssist with pipeline configuration and deployment automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or similar technologies.\n\nSecurity Integration and Compliance\nConfigure and maintain automated security scanning within CI/CD pipelines, including static and dynamic application security testing, software composition analysis, container image scanning, and secrets detection.\n\nAssist with maintaining hardened container base images and approved artifact repositories.\n\nGenerate, collect, and maintain software bills of materials (SBOMs), scan results, and pipeline evidence supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization and continuous Authorization to Operate (cATO).\n\nFollow established security procedures for artifact promotion and deployment across environments, including classified environments where applicable.\n\nSupport cybersecurity and compliance teams in documenting pipeline controls and resolving identified findings.\n\nOperations and Continuous Improvement\nMonitor pipeline execution and troubleshoot build, test, and deployment failures.\n\nAssist with identifying performance issues, recurring failures, and opportunities to improve pipeline reliability.\n\nSupport release planning and coordinate deployment activities with integration, test, platform, and operations teams.\n\nMaintain technical documentation, pipeline instructions, and troubleshooting procedures.\n\nHelp development teams adopt established DevSecOps practices and standardized delivery workflows.\n\nLocation: This position is fully onsite in Chantilly, VA.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nActive TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, plus 3+ years of relevant experience; additional 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.\n\nHands-on experience building, maintaining, or troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines in a production environment.\n\nExperience working with containers and container orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes, or similar technologies.\n\nExperience integrating or maintaining automated security scanning tools within software development or delivery workflows.\n\nProficiency with Git and at least one scripting language, such as Bash or Python.\n\nWorking knowledge of infrastructure as code and deployment automation tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.\n\nDoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, or the ability to obtain the required certification within the applicable timeframe.\n\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience supporting software delivery across multiple classified enclaves or disconnected environments.\n\nFamiliarity with DoD or Intelligence Community software factory practices, hardened container image programs, or continuous ATO processes.\n\nFamiliarity with zero trust architecture and policy-as-code tools, such as OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno.\n\nExperience with artifact repositories, such as Artifactory, Nexus, or Harbor, and code quality tools, such as SonarQube.\n\nFamiliarity with observability tools used to monitor pipelines and deployed services.\n\nKubernetes certification, such as CKA, CKAD, or CKS, and/or a cloud professional certification.\n\nPrior experience supporting Intelligence Community or DoD mission programs.\n\nTarget Salary Range\n$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
