Visit peraton.com to learn how we’re keeping people around the world safe and secure.\nResponsibilities\nPeraton is seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals.\nThis position supports Peraton's federal customer as part of an application transformation and modernization initiative.\nThis program is driving a large-scale transformation of systems into a data-centric, cloud-native ecosystem capable of supporting high-volume, near real-time data processing and advanced analytics. The work includes modernization of legacy applications, development of new cloud-native solutions, and implementation of DevSecOps and scaled Agile practices across the organization.\nAs a Lead Systems Engineer at Peraton, you will drive end-to-end systems engineering execution across a large-scale federal modernization program.\nYou will operate between architecture and delivery-ensuring that system designs are translated into working, integrated, and scalable solutions. You will lead engineering efforts across multiple teams, coordinating system integration, requirements alignment, and technical execution.\nLocation: Suitland, MD (Hybrid)\nDay to Day Roles and Responsibilities:\nProvide technical leadership across systems engineering efforts within the DTAM program\nTranslate architectural designs into actionable engineering plans and execution\nDefine and manage system requirements, interfaces, and integration points\nLead system integration across applications, data platforms, and cloud environments\nEnsure systems meet performance, scalability, reliability, and security requirements\nIdentify and resolve technical risks, dependencies, and integration challenges\nSupport modernization efforts by engineering transitions from legacy to cloud native systems\nCollaborate with architects, developers, data engineers, and program leadership to ensure alignment\nDrive adoption of DevSecOps practices, enabling automation, testing, and continuous delivery\nParticipate in stakeholder discussions, providing technical insight and decision support\nMentor engineering teams and enforce systems engineering best practices\nQualifications\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelors degree and 16 years of experience or an Associates degree and 18 years of experience or a High School diploma/equivalent and 20 years of experience.\nMust be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance\n15+ years of experience in systems engineering, integration, or technical leadership roles\nProven experience supporting large-scale, complex IT systems or modernization programs\nStrong experience with systems engineering principles, including requirements, integration, and validation\nExperience integrating complex systems across applications, data platforms, and infrastructure\nExperience working in cloud-based environments and modern distributed systems\nUnderstanding of DevSecOps practices and system engineering within CI/CD environments\nAbility to manage system complexity across multiple teams and technical domains\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)\nAgile certifications (Scrum, SAFe, or similar)\nCertified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)\nExperience supporting large-scale federal programs\nExperience with large-scale data systems or real-time processing environments\nTarget Salary Range\n$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
