Location: Fort Meade, MD. In this role, you will engineer software that transforms cyber telemetry into analytic outputs supporting authorized defensive and offensive cyberspace operations.\nResponsibilities:\nLead the design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of software applications, services, libraries, and analytic pipelines for cyber operational data.\nDevelop batch and streaming data ingestion, parsing, normalization, enrichment, correlation, indexing, and query functions across distributed data platforms.\nWork with cyber operators, threat analysts, data engineers, and Government leads to translate mission questions, telemetry limitations, and analytic requirements into tested software.\nMentor developers, establish coding and review practices, assess technical tradeoffs, and document designs, source code, tests, interfaces, and deployment procedures.\nDesign and integrate APIs, microservices, data interfaces, and event-driven services using documented contracts and appropriate protocols.\nUse Git-based distributed version control, including GitLab, for branching, merge requests, peer review, issue tracking, release management, and CI/CD pipelines.\nApply software engineering practices including object-oriented, functional, procedural, concurrent, asynchronous, and distributed programming.\nQualifications\nMinimum Qualifications:\nMinimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 16 years with HS; Minimum of 14 years with Associates.8 years of professional software development experience -- responsibility for designing, delivering, and maintaining production software\n\nDemonstrated proficiency writing production code in at least two programming languages, including Python or another language suited to data processing, and demonstrated SQL proficiency. Experience with additional languages is evaluated against assigned work; proficiency in every listed language is not required.\nDemonstrated experience with Git-based distributed version control and collaborative development workflows; ability to work in GitLab or an equivalent platform.\nExperience with software architecture, data structures, algorithms, debugging, automated testing, code review, and secure software development.\nExperience developing or integrating software for large datasets, distributed processing, databases, data pipelines, APIs, or streaming systems.\nWorking knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, network and host telemetry, security events, cyber threats, and the operational context of defensive and offensive cyberspace missions.\nAbility to lead technical implementation, resolve complex defects, communicate design decisions, and deliver documented, testable code.\nAble to meet applicable DoD 8140 work-role qualification requirements. Primary alignment to DoD Cyber Workforce Framework Software Developer (621). \nU.S. Citizenship is required.\nActive TS with ability to obtain/maintain SCI.\nDesired Qualifications:\nHands-on development with Scala, R, Julia, C++, Go, Rust, Java, TypeScript, C#, or other compiled, interpreted, systems, and analytical languages.\nKnowledge and skill in Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, Hadoop, distributed SQL engines, graph databases, columnar data formats, and high-volume event processing.\nProficiency in working with cloud and container platforms; Linux; Docker; Kubernetes; infrastructure as code; GitLab CI/CD; automated deployment and DevSecOps workflows.\nFamiliarity with statistical computing, machine learning, model integration, feature engineering, graph algorithms, or SI-assisted development with validation and human review.\nProficiency in data quality controls, schema evolution, telemetry provenance, time-series analysis, and performance tuning for large cyber datasets.\nExperience with the JCWA Common Runtime Stack for Data (JCRS-D), Caspian, or comparable DoW cyber data environments.\nTechnical leadership experience leading an in Agile teams.\nExperience supporting Joint, Service, DoD, or Cyber Mission Force organizations.\nTarget Salary Range\n$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
