Visit peraton.com to learn how we’re keeping people around the world safe and secure.\nResponsibilities\nPosition Overview\nWe are seeking an experienced SolarWinds Engineer to support a mission-critical government customer by designing, implementing, administering, and optimizing enterprise network and infrastructure monitoring solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with the SolarWinds Observability platform and SolarWinds Orion-based products, including Network Performance Monitor (NPM), Server & Application Monitor (SAM), Network Configuration Manager (NCM), and related modules.\nThe successful candidate must be able to operate effectively in a security-conscious environment, comply with government security requirements, and maintain accurate technical documentation in support of operational readiness and mission success.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, deploy, configure, administer, and maintain SolarWinds monitoring infrastructure across enterprise network, server, application, and systems environments.\nManage and optimize SolarWinds NPM, SAM, NCM, and other applicable monitoring modules based on program requirements.\nConfigure network discovery, device polling, SNMP, WMI, ICMP, syslog, and other monitoring protocols as appropriate.\nDevelop and maintain custom dashboards, reports, alerts, thresholds, and performance metrics to proactively identify service degradation and infrastructure issues.\nMonitor network availability, bandwidth utilization, latency, packet loss, server health, application performance, and overall infrastructure capacity.\nTroubleshoot SolarWinds platform issues, polling failures, data collection problems, alerting errors, and integration challenges.\nIntegrate SolarWinds with IT service management (ITSM), ticketing, configuration management, log management, and other enterprise monitoring tools as required.\nSupport SolarWinds platform upgrades, patching, configuration changes, database maintenance, performance tuning, and disaster recovery activities.\nMaintain accurate network topology, device inventory, monitoring configurations, operational procedures, and system documentation.\nCollaborate with network operations, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and service desk teams to resolve incidents and improve service availability.\nSupport incident response, root cause analysis, problem management, and corrective action implementation.\nEnsure monitoring solutions align with applicable government security policies, system authorization requirements, change control processes, and operational procedures.\nSupport system audits, compliance assessments, vulnerability remediation, and technical reviews as required.\nParticipate in maintenance windows, operational readiness reviews, technical briefings, and on-call support when required by the contract.\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience with 8 years experience, HS diploma with 12 years, Master's with 6 years and PhD with 3 years\nExperience in network monitoring, infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or a related IT operations role.\nDemonstrated hands-on experience administering SolarWinds Orion or SolarWinds Observability products in an enterprise environment.\nExperience configuring and troubleshooting network monitoring protocols, including SNMP, ICMP, and WMI.\nStrong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and network performance fundamentals.\nExperience monitoring Windows and/or Linux servers and enterprise applications.\nProficiency in alert configuration, dashboard development, reporting, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.\nExperience working within formal change management, incident management, and configuration management processes.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a mission-focused government IT environment.\nUS Citizen with the ability to obtain a Dept of Energy clearance\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting Department of Energy (DOE), federal civilian, intelligence community, or other government IT programs.\nExperience with SolarWinds NPM, SAM, NCM, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA), Virtualization Manager, or related modules.\nFamiliarity with SolarWinds High Availability (HA), scalability, distributed deployments, and database performance optimization.\nExperience supporting systems operating in classified or otherwise restricted government environments.\nRelevant certifications such as SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP), CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, or equivalent credentials.\nTarget Salary Range\n$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
