This role can work remote.\nThe Systems Architect, SME will serve as a senior technical and strategic advisor working closely with delivery leadership and executive stakeholders to translate requirements into compelling solutions designed to perform against evaluation criteria and deliver measurable customer outcomes.\nAs part of a collaborative, high-impact integrated product development team, you’ll work on next-generation development incorporating AI/ML capabilities hosted on AWS Cloud infrastructure. This is your chance to help shape innovative solutions with the cutting-edge technology that makes a real difference for our customers’ missions.\nThe ideal candidate brings deep experience leading large-scale Federal technology programs, enterprise modernization, cloud solutions, software engineering programs with the executive presence to engage directly with senior government customers and internal leadership. The ideal candidate also provides expertise in Navy weapon systems/platforms.\nKey Technologies and Skills:\nMOSA & Modern Architecture: software architecture supporting extensibility, open interfaces, and integration across multiple systems.\nAI/ML Integration: creating force multiplying capabilities applied to the development lifecycle and customer use cases.\nCloud-Native Development: AWS cloud architecture, services, and integration patterns.\nModern Service Design: RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, microservices, and container orchestration.\nAutomation & Delivery: Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and distribution.\nDistributed Systems Engineering: Building fault-tolerant, concurrent, high-throughput services with modern languages and tools.\nSecurity by Design: Cloud security principles, compliance frameworks (RMF, FedRAMP), and Zero Trust patterns.\nQualifications\nBasic Qualifications:\nClearance: active Secret security clearance is required.\nEducation: Minimum of 16 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 14 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 10 years with Ph.D. \nTen (10) or more years of directly related experience in software engineering; including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.\nAt least three (3) years of experience in software integration and software testing, to include developing and implementing test plans and test scripts.\nA minimum of four (4) years of experience developing software with one or more modern programming languages relevant to cloud-native services (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript).\nAgile development experience using Scrum or SAFe Agile methodologies.\nExperience developing modern information management applications with complex workflows, intuitive interfaces, and highly concurrent operation.\nProficiency with modern web service patterns (e.g. REST, JSON, HTTPs APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger) and frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, React, TailWind).\nStrong executive presence, written communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills. \nDemonstrated technical writing skills and shall have generated technical documents in support of a software development project. \nDesired Qualifications:\nBackground working with the US Navy and NAVAIR.\nExperience building fault-tolerant distributed systems over unreliable networks.\nApplied use of Large Language Models (LLM), Agentic AI, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) within customer use cases and solutions.\nApplied use of AI-assisted coding within a software engineering lifecycle.\nProficiency in lifecycle automation including Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security compliance, deployment, and continuous monitoring.\nExpertise with microservices software development techniques and container-orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes). \nKnowledge of security and compliance best practices, RMF, and Zero Trust.\nExpertise in Cloud Architecture design and development for Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure.\nAt least three (3) years developing software on UNIX/Linux, with strong Linux fundamentals and proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Bash).\nPeraton Overview\nPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
