You will become an integral part of the Systems Engineering team within the Engineering Division, which serves as the technical backbone for the NEXRAD network.\nThe Systems Engineering team acts as the primary technical authority for the radar network’s computer systems, telecommunications, and security infrastructure. In this role, you will support the Engineering Division by navigating complex feasibility studies, implementing NOAA-directed secure benchmark configurations, and analyzing radar performance data. From reviewing complex design modifications to ensuring compliance with federal Information System policies, this program offers the opportunity to directly impact the reliability of the nation’s weather infrastructure.\nJob Responsibilities:\nProvide system design and requirements analysis for complex computer systems.\nConduct feasibility, cost/benefit, and alternatives analysis for modifications and large-scale product improvement programs.\nDevelop documentation including technical specifications, design documents, and system integration plans.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of hardware, software, and systems components.\nPerform system integration and testing activities to validate system functionality and performance.\nTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to system design, integration, and performance.\nStay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends related to computer systems and architecture.\nQualifications\nJob Requirements: \n2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree\nActive/Current Public Trust Clearance - US Citizenship required\nExperience providing system design and requirements analysis for complex computer systems is desired. \nAdvanced degrees in a relevant technical field may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement. \nExperience conducting feasibility, cost/benefit, and alternatives analyses for system modifications and product improvement programs is desired. \nStrong technical writing, documentation, and presentation skills. \nExperience developing engineering documentation, requirements specifications, test plans, and design artifacts. \nKnowledge of computer hardware, systems software, systems architecture, and systems integration principles. \nExperience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar Linux-based operating systems. \nExperience supporting systems and networking devices utilizing embedded Linux platforms. \nFamiliarity with network design and administration concepts, including IPv4, IPv6, subnetting, Network Address Translation (NAT), routing, switching, and Access Control Lists (ACLs). \nAbility to translate operational requirements into practical and sustainable technical solutions. \nExperience with radar systems, radar engineering concepts, or radar equipment is highly desirable. \nFamiliarity with Systems Engineering practices and frameworks such as INCOSE methodologies is desirable. \nRelevant technical training or certifications in radar systems, systems engineering, Linux administration, or networking are desirable.\nTarget Salary Range\n$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
