This is a full-time position based in Reston, VA with travel to customer and corporate sites as needed.\nReporting directly to the Sector Chief Technology Officer, this role is the connective tissue between the CTO's strategic vision, our technical community of Advanced Capabilities Engineers and Next-gen Technology Engineers, business line leadership, and peer organizations across the enterprise. You will translate strategy into execution, ensure our technical experts are focused, funded, and effective, and make sure that good ideas, roadmaps, and innovations actually land in the hands of the people who need them.\nThis is a role for someone who leads from the front, earns trust through competence, and knows how to move a diverse technical and business organization toward a common outcome.\nWhat you'll do:\nTechnology Roadmapping and Standards\nDevelop, govern, and maintain technology roadmaps in close partnership with our emergent technology community and sector stakeholders\nTranslate roadmaps into actionable inputs for capture strategies, proposal development, and program planning\nBalance near-term customer readiness with longer-term technology priorities and emerging trends, keeping the portfolio forward-looking without losing sight of what wins today\nIRAD Strategy Execution\nExecute the IRAD strategy set by the CTO, managing the full lifecycle from ideation through investment decision to project execution\nOwn the vetting process, evaluating proposals for technical merit, business alignment, customer relevance, and growth potential in partnership with SMEs and sector stakeholders\nMaintain visibility into the sector-wide IRAD portfolio, identifying gaps, overlaps, and opportunities to consolidate or expand\nTrack and communicate business impact metrics so leadership always knows what the portfolio is producing\nTechnology Transfer and Integration\nBuild and sustain relationships with peer sectors and internal organizations to identify technologies, tools, and approaches that could strengthen Space sector capabilities\nDrive technology transfer from Peraton Labs and other enterprise organizations into sector programs and pursuits\nCreate mechanisms for capturing and disseminating lessons learned, best practices, and reusable technical assets so innovations outlast any individual expert\nTalent Mentoring and Development\nHelping them grow as technical leaders, communicators, and contributors to business growth\nPartner with HR and business leadership to define career paths for technical staff, particularly in emergent technology areas\nIdentify training needs and work with the technical community to develop both formal and informal programs that spread expert knowledge across the organization\nSupport workforce planning to ensure the sector has the right technical talent at the right time\nProgram Enablement and Customer Value\nPartner with program managers to identify optimization and efficiency opportunities on existing programs, reducing cost, improving delivery, or enhancing quality\nWork with the technical community to assess current programs for emergent technology insertion opportunities that benefit both the customer mission and Peraton's performance\nConnect program needs with IRAD investments, technology transfer opportunities, and SME expertise so the right capability reaches the right bid at the right time\nSupport new business pursuits by ensuring technical differentiators, talent, and tools are ready for capture teams\nTrack and communicate the business impact of technology enablement activities across the sector\nOperational Excellence\nEnsure stable, consistent execution across all CTO office initiatives, roadmapping, IRAD, technology transfer, talent development, and program enablement\nIdentify and remove obstacles that prevent technical staff from focusing on high-value work\nContinuously improve processes, tools, and governance structures to increase efficiency and impact\nProvide regular reporting to the CTO and sector leadership on execution status, portfolio health, talent development progress, and program outcomes\nMaintain visibility across all initiatives to identify synergies, gaps, and opportunities\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\n12+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field\nActive Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility. The candidate must maintain the clearance\nDemonstrated experience in technology strategy, R&D management, or technical operations within the defense or intelligence community\nProven track record of developing and maintaining technology roadmaps that align business, customer, and technology perspectives\nExperience managing IRAD or R&D portfolios from proposal evaluation through execution and transition\nStrong understanding of defense acquisition processes and how technology investments translate to competitive advantage\nExperience mentoring or developing technical talent, including career development, training program design, or workforce planning\nExcellent facilitation and collaboration skills, with the ability to bring together diverse stakeholders and drive alignment across organizational boundaries\nDemonstrated ability to build and sustain cross-functional relationships across technical, business, and corporate organizations\nFull-time availability with flexibility for hybrid work and travel as needed\nDesired Qualifications\nMaster's or doctoral degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline\nDirect experience supporting NRO, NGA, USSF, DIA, NASA, or NOAA programs or customers\nBackground in one or more emergent technology areas (AI/ML, cloud, digital twin, space networks, optical communications) sufficient to engage credibly with SMEs and guide investment decisions\nExperience with technology transfer from R&D or laboratory environments into operational programs\nProcess design mindset with the ability to create scalable, repeatable approaches that work across a large organization\nExperience building or managing technical career frameworks and development programs\nKnowledge of industry tools for roadmapping, portfolio management, and talent development\nActive TS/SCI with Polygraph strongly preferred\nEstablished network across the defense technology community, including government, industry, and academia\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to and influence executive leadership\nBenefits: \nAt Peraton, our benefits are designed to help keep you at your best beyond the work you do with us daily. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
