This role requires a strong understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) principles, graphic design, and web technologies. The successful candidate will be a creative and collaborative individual with a passion for creating intuitive and engaging online experiences that meet the specific needs of DoW/AF personnel and the public. This position works closely with developers, content creators, and stakeholders to ensure the design aligns with project requirements and DoW/AF standards.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign & Development:\nDesign and develop visually appealing and user-friendly website and web application interfaces, adhering to established style guides and branding guidelines. \nCreate wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas and user flows. \nDevelop user interface (UI) elements and components that are consistent across different platforms and devices. \nTranslate user needs and business requirements into intuitive and functional designs. \nEnsure designs are responsive and optimized for various screen sizes (desktop, tablet, mobile). \nUser Experience (UX) Research & Design:\nConduct user research and analysis to understand user needs, behaviors, and goals. \nDevelop user personas, journey maps, and user flows to inform design decisions. \nConduct usability testing and gather feedback to improve the user experience. \nApply UX principles to create intuitive and engaging interfaces that are easy to navigate and use. \nGraphic Design & Visual Communication:\nCreate high-quality graphics, icons, and other visual elements to enhance the user experience. \nMaintain brand consistency across all digital assets. \nEnsure all visual elements are optimized for web performance. \nDevelop infographics and other visual aids to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner. \nAccessibility:\nDesign websites and web applications that are accessible to users with disabilities, adhering to accessibility standards such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). \nEnsure all designs meet Section 508 compliance requirements. \nConduct accessibility testing and remediation. \nCollaboration & Communication:\nCollaborate with developers, content creators, and stakeholders to ensure design aligns with project requirements and technical feasibility. \nPresent design concepts and solutions to stakeholders in a clear and persuasive manner. \nGather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine designs. \nParticipate in team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the project. \nOther Duties:\nStay abreast of the latest web design trends and technologies. \nMaintain a portfolio of design work. \nContribute to the development of design guidelines and standards. \nPerform other duties as assigned. \nQualifications\nQualifications:\nRequired:\n Education/Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience with Associate's degree; Minimum of 8 years experience with Bachelor's degree; Minimum of 6 years experience with Master's degree; Minimum of 3 years experience with PhD. A degree in one of these fields is highly desired: Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field. However, four years of additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. \n Technical Skills:Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD). \nStrong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. \nExperience with content management systems (CMS) such as AFPIMS, AWS, or similar. \nExperience with wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD). \nKnowledge of responsive design principles and techniques. \nUnderstanding of accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG). \n\nPortfolio: A strong online portfolio demonstrating a variety of web design projects and showcasing design skills, ideally in the DoW or military environments. \nSecurity Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI eligible. \nCertifications: Active CompTIA Security+, or CASP+, or UX-PM Certification, or TOGAF .\nCommunication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. \nProblem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. \nTeamwork Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment. \nDoW Experience: Familiarity with DoW policies, procedures, and IT infrastructure is a plus. \nPreferred:\nExperience with user research methodologies (e.g., user interviews, surveys, usability testing). \nExperience with A/B testing and data analysis. \nExperience with design systems. \nKnowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices. \nExperience working in a secure development environment. \nFamiliarity with Section 508 compliance requirements. \nCertifications related to web design, UX, or accessibility\nPeraton Overview\nPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
