You will work with modern observability technologies including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, metrics, logs, and traces, while helping us evolve PMM toward an increasingly automated and agentic observability platform.\nWe are also actively exploring how AI coding tools, AI agents, automation, MCP, and LLM-based workflows can improve both the PMM product and the way we develop software.\nWhat You Will Do\nDesign and develop reliable, scalable, and performant backend services and APIs in Go.\n\nBuild features for monitoring, observability, troubleshooting, and management of database environments.\n\nWork with OpenTelemetry and observability signals including metrics, logs, and traces.\n\nDevelop integrations with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other database technologies.\n\nWork with distributed systems, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-native infrastructure.\n\nDesign and evolve APIs and internal service architecture.\n\nTake ownership of complex features from technical design through implementation, testing, and delivery.\n\nParticipate in code and architecture reviews and help establish engineering best practices.\n\nImprove automated testing, CI/CD, developer tooling, and engineering productivity.\n\nExplore and adopt AI-assisted development, coding agents, and automation where they improve engineering effectiveness.\n\nContribute to PMM as an open-source project and collaborate with the wider community.\n\nWhat You Have Done\nStrong backend engineering experience with significant production experience in Go.\n\nStrong understanding of software architecture, APIs, concurrency, and distributed systems.\n\nExperience designing, building, and documenting APIs.\n\nExperience with at least one of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis/Valkey, or similar database technologies.\n\nExperience with observability, monitoring, metrics, logging, or tracing systems.\n\nFamiliarity with OpenTelemetry concepts and architecture.\n\nExperience with automated testing and a strong focus on software quality.\n\nComfortable working with Linux.\n\nExperience with Git and modern software development workflows.\n\nExperience with containers and cloud-native environments.\n\nFluent written and spoken English.\n\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fully remote team.\n\nWhat Will Make You Stand Out\nStrong practical experience with OpenTelemetry, including OTLP, collectors, metrics, logs, or traces.\n\nExperience with Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, ClickHouse, Grafana, or similar observability technologies.\n\nExperience building or operating distributed observability platforms.\n\nDeep knowledge of database internals or database performance monitoring.\n\nExperience with Docker and Kubernetes.\n\nExperience building secure distributed systems and working with encryption, authentication, and authorization.\n\nExperience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.\n\nExperience using AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools as part of your engineering workflow.\n\nExperience building AI-powered developer workflows, agents, or engineering automation.\n\nExperience with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agent tool integration, or similar agent interoperability frameworks.\n\nExperience working with LLM APIs, agent frameworks, or AI-assisted troubleshooting / observability systems.\n\nExperience improving engineering productivity through automation and developer tooling.\n\nWhy Percona?\nAt Percona, we believe an open world is a better world.
