You'll work on our application, APIs, data models, integrations, and background jobs, while sharing responsibility for our cloud infrastructure with our engineering lead.\nApplication development is the primary focus of this role. You'll also bring practical experience keeping production services reliable, reviewing infrastructure changes, and investigating issues across application and cloud boundaries.\nWhat you'll do\nDeliver customer-facing features from product discussion through release and iteration.\n\nOwn backend features from technical design through implementation, testing, release, and maintenance.\n\nBuild reliable APIs, integrations, and background processing for customer workflows.\n\nImprove database queries, application performance, and failure handling as the product grows.\n\nWork with our engineering lead to maintain AWS infrastructure and review Terraform changes.\n\nInvestigate production incidents, improve monitoring and recovery procedures, and document what the team needs to operate services confidently.\n\nCollaborate with product and frontend engineers on practical solutions, and support teammates through code reviews and mentoring.\n\nWhat you'll bring\nExperience independently delivering and maintaining backend features in a production web application.\n\nStrong proficiency in a backend language and web framework, such as Rails, Django, Laravel, Node.js, .NET, or a comparable stack.\n\nStrong relational database and SQL skills, including data modeling, query performance, and transactions.\n\nExperience designing APIs and handling asynchronous processing, integration failures, and retries.\n\nHands-on experience deploying, troubleshooting, and operating applications on AWS or another major cloud platform, including working with permissions, networking, and application configuration.\n\nExperience reviewing and changing infrastructure as code using Terraform or a comparable tool.\n\nA practical approach to automated testing, safe releases, production debugging, and communicating technical tradeoffs.\n\nExperience helping other engineers through feedback, technical guidance, or mentoring.\n\nHelpful experience\nRuby on Rails and PostgreSQL.\n\nAWS and Terraform specifically.\n\nGraphQL, third-party integrations, and SaaS business workflows.\n\nBackup and recovery practices, observability, and application security.\n\nEnough frontend experience to collaborate comfortably in a React/TypeScript application.\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive compensation including meaningful equity you’ll actually be able to use\n\nMedical, vision, and dental with paid premiums for you, cost-sharing for dependents\n\nFlexible PTO & 401(k)\n\nDaily lunches when onsite\n\nUnlimited book budget\n\nCompany laptop\n\nComplimentary One Medical membership for you and your family\n\nPerfect Venue is committed to building a winning team\nWe provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibit discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
