Successful Candidate will manage, organize and implement day-to-day Laboratory Instrument Support activities through liaison and discussion with customers’, PKI Planners, TLS Engineers and the Lead Scheduler. The role provides high quality specialist engineering support to a wide range of laboratory equipment within the scientific community such as Balances, Centrifuges, Incubators etc.\nKey Responsibilities:\nEnsure prompt, flexible, customer-focused equipment support whilst maintaining compliance with statutory, regulatory and engineering standards\nDiagnose faults on complex equipment and systems utilizing the multi-disciplinary support internal and external to the team to produce a satisfactory solution\nPlan & carry out engineering maintenance and commissioning work associated with scientific equipment and systems in a safe, cost-effective manner to ensure minimum business disruption\nUse technical knowledge to identify and source components and services\nCreate, manage and review supporting documentation e.g. service reports\nSupport users in the preparation/design of operating procedures, SOPs, Change Control and the deviation, manuals and drawings\nManage the availability of essential spares to support the range of equipment and systems used within the R&D facilities in a cost-effective manner\nSupport contract management in the set-up, renewal and budget of contracts\nMonitor the performance of the scientific equipment and systems using Key Performance Indicators to instigate improvements and influence changes\nSupport to PKI Management Team to ensure all activities are completed\nEnsure that a full and detailed task specific Risk Assessment/Method Statement is completed prior to any work commencing\nTake reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of other people who could be affected by their acts or omissions\nReport any accidents or near misses that they experience, or witness, to their Line Management\nCo-operate and assist in all aspects of health and safety procedures introduced by management for their well-being\nWear personal protective equipment when conditions require or when required to do so by the relevant risk assessment, method statement or mandatory signage\nCritical skills and experience:\nExperience within the Laboratory Instrument Support sector across a wide range of scientific equipment.\nIdeal candidate will be currently working as a laboratory engineer with any of centrifuges. Incubators, balances, vacuum pumps, fridges, freezers, Water purifiers, plate washers/readers\nVery Strong relationship management and excellent communication skills/influencing skills.\nAbility to work to own initiative but team orientated and able to work with minimal supervision\nStrong analytical skills with proven ability to break down and solve complex problems in a logical and structured approach.\nKnowledge and understanding of EHS procedures\nExperience of working in a fast paced, operational environment.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nHigh customer focus.\nBasic Qualifications:\nTechnical Engineering Qualification or Apprenticeship.\nL3 engineering discipline.\nPC literate in Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).\nWorking Environment:\nRole is site based on a customer site in Cambridge, 5 day a week, Monday to Friday.\nMust be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time.\nThe person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operating around instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function. \nMay be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazards present in the laboratory environment.\nWhat we offer:\n25 days of annual leave plus all Bank Holidays\nIncome Protection Insurance that ensures your income is protected when life takes the unexpected turn\nLife Assurance for added peace of mind\nAccess to our WeCare Programme, offering medical, mental health, legal, and financial support\nMyStrength -
