The role’s purpose is to provide a coordinated service to research groups as part of the Scientific Services General Lab Support team. The goal is to enable smooth facilitation and effective function of the working environment by providing a single point of contact to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory environment. The Lab Support Coordinator will typically lead the coordination of services for a designated building or location.\nThis role is located full-time onsite at our customer site in Gaithersburg, MD.\n Responsibilities:\nServe as point of contact for customer lab staff, facilitatingand coordinating laboratory needs and activities.\n\nThis role will work closely with other teams to seamlessly deliver lab support services.\n\nHelp coordinate the working lab environment daily and oversee all stock items in and near the labs including but not limited to glassware, lab coats, PPE, consumables.\n\nOccasionally support / coordinate waste removal from labs, ensuring use of waste streams with appropriate third-partyvendors.\n\nAct as the liaison for escorting third-party vendors to customer lab staff for maintenance and/or repairs visits.\n\nMeet regularly with key stakeholders (lab staff, service providers, management) to identify, review and resolve issues in a timely mannerand/or escalateas necessary.\n\nRegularly engage with the customer and PerkinElmer staff to ensure quality and compliance within the laboratory.\n\nCollaborate with customer line safety reps to ensure a high levelof safety is maintainedin the lab.\n\nProvideupdates and timelycommunication to lab users on service work requests.\n\nProvidea general induction/orientation for new members of customer staff and visitors.\n\nOnce certified, providecoordination of a 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) lean service.\n\nRequired to cross-train and provideback-up to other lab support areas.\n\nComplete relevant paperwork according to principles of Good Documentation Practice.\n\nSubject Matter Expert (SME)onvarious support needs across different buildings/floors/locations.\n\nActively participateon committee(s) supporting LSC’s across PerkinElmer and the customer sites with a focus on providingguidance through presentation and document creation.\n\nHelp facilitatemeetings with the ability to communicate from an area of expertise of LSC functions.\n\nAssistwith freezer, refrigerator, and cold room clean outs.\n\nCommunicate cold space outages to lab staff, track cold inventory moves and disseminateexpected cold repair times to lab teams.\n\nMaintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.\n\nMay be requiredto provideon-call service for specific controlled temperature units in the lab areas.Hoursare between 5:00pm-7:30amMondaythruSunday.\n\nTasks include but are not limited to transfer of contents from failing fridges and incubators todesignatedback up units, photograph item placement before & after relocations, properly document failures,providea work order of failing unit to the facilities team and inform respective end-users about the transfer via email based on the SOP years' experience in a customer-facing role within a scientific environment OR\n\nHigh School Diplomawith 2+ years’ experiencein a customer-facing rolewithin a scientific environment\n\n Preferred Qualifications:\nCertification/AssociatesDegree in relevant field (Project Management, 6-Sigma, Business Administration, Supply Chain) and 1-2 years of experience in a customer-facing role within a scientific environment.\n\nStrongunderstanding of GLP/GxPand/or experience working in a compliance driven environment.\n\nExperience with 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) principles\n\nSufficient knowledgeto independently carry out duties ofchemical and safe handling practices.\n\nIntermediateknowledge of Occupational Health and Safety\n\nCritical Skills:\nDemonstrates appropriate useof office equipment/software after training.\n\nSelf-motivated and ability to work under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines.\n\nGood interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills\n\nAbility to follow oral and written directions.\n\nTechnical problem-solving skills and attention to details.\n\nExcellent customer service skills complemented by an ability to a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.\n\nJob pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.\n\nMust be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time\n\nThe person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite. Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularbending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to performa service function.\n\nOccasionally move or lift upto 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).\n\nSpecific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observedetails at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order toperform the essential service functions of this position.\n\nOccasionally operatesa computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.\n\nEmployeemay be requiredto handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storingand labeling hazardous waste.\n\nPotential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, hazardous chemicals.\n\nThe annual compensation range for this full-time position is $50,000 to $60,000.
