This position will be responsible for monitoring and remotely directing upstream oil and gas production operations, including wells, tank batteries, compressors, gathering lines, and processing equipment, utilizing SCADA, camera, and HMI systems. The Control Room Operator will serve as the first point of response for alarms, abnormal operating conditions, and emergencies and will work closely with field operations, engineering, and HSE teams to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of upstream production operations, excellent communication and decision-making skills, and the ability to remain calm and responsive in a fast-paced operating environment.\nGeneral Responsibilities\nContinuously monitor SCADA, camera, and HMI systems for well pads, tank batteries, compressor stations, and pipeline systems across assigned operating areas\nIdentify, prioritize, and respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions; execute shutdown or isolation procedures in accordance with approved protocols\nServe as the primary communication link between the control room, field operators, pumpers, and third-party gas and water carriers during normal operations and emergency situations\nInitiate and coordinate emergency response activities for spills, fires, gas releases, equipment failures, and other operational incidents in accordance with company HSE procedures\nAccurately record production volumes, equipment status, downtime events, and operational changes in real time\nSupport remote startups, shutdowns, and optimization of wells, compressors, and gathering systems\nPrepare detailed shift-change logs and incident reports and communicate open items and ongoing operational issues to incoming operators\nEnsure operations are conducted in accordance with company safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations, including OSHA, EPA, the Railroad Commission of Texas, and New Mexico Oil Conservation Division requirements\nParticipate in root-cause analysis of operational upsets and recommend process or procedural improvements\nMaintain proficiency through ongoing training on SCADA platforms, emergency response, and control room procedures\nAd hoc projects as assigned\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or GED required\n2+ years of experience in an oil and gas control room, SCADA operations, or upstream field operations role\nWorking knowledge of SCADA, camera, and HMI platforms and data historians, including Ignition, CygNet, and PTZ cameras\nSolid understanding of upstream production processes, including artificial lift, separation, compression, and gas gathering systems\nStrong verbal communication and decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure\nProficiency with PC-based programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint\nMust be willing and able to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays\nMust be willing and able to work in-office in Midland, TX\nMust be able to occasionally visit well sites and production facilities as required\nPreferred Qualifications\nAssociate degree or technical certification in process technology, instrumentation, or a related field\nPrevious experience supporting upstream oil and gas operations in the Permian Basin\nExperience utilizing SCADA platforms such as Ignition and CygNet\nPermian Resourceis an equal opportunity employer.
