We employ over 800 people across our operations in Cork, Dublin and Northern Ireland.\nJob Purpose\nThe Environmental Process Technician is responsible for supporting wastewater treatment operations, environmental compliance, environmental monitoring and Production Services activities across the Midleton and Dungourney sites. The role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with EPA licence requirements, maintaining the performance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), supporting sustainability initiatives and coordinating key site facilities services. The position offers an opportunity for an environmental professional with an interest in water and wastewater management to further develop technical expertise in an operational environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nWastewater Treatment & Water Management\nOperate, monitor and support the day-to-day performance of the Midleton Distillery Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).\nMonitor wastewater treatment processes, analyse plant performance data and identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement.\nMonitor wastewater and stormwater management systems to ensure environmental compliance and operational effectiveness.\nInvestigate, troubleshoot and escalate treatment plant or environmental system deviations in accordance with site procedures.\nSupport wastewater sampling, testing, reporting and regulatory compliance activities.\nMonitor, maintain and verify environmental monitoring equipment, including TOC monitoring systems.\nSupport water reduction, water reuse and water recycling projects across site operations.\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving environmental performance and resource efficiency.\nEnvironmental Compliance & Monitoring\nCoordinate environmental compliance testing associated with licensed site activities.\nMaintain accurate environmental records and support regulatory reporting requirements.\nPrepare and contribute to environmental reports and submissions to the EPA and other relevant authorities.\nSupport EPA, NSAI and other environmental audits and inspections.\nEnsure compliance with EPA licence requirements, environmental permits and site procedures.\nSupport compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001 and FEMAS standards.\nAnalyse environmental data and make recommendations to support environmental and operational performance improvements.\nOperations, Permits & Team Support\nAct as Permit Authority within the site Permit-to-Work and Lockout/Tagout systems.\nReview, maintain and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Occupational Risk Assessments (ORAs) and Work Instructions.\nSupport and supervise Production Services activities, including weighbridge operations, grain intake, chemical deliveries and feed outloading.\nDeputise for the Environment & Facilities Manager as required.\nParticipate in the site out-of-hours on-call support rota.\nFacilities Operations & Coordination\nCoordinate day-to-day facilities services including security, waste management, cleaning, catering, landscaping and general site upkeep activities.\nMonitor facilities issues and coordinate resolution with contractors and service providers.\nSupport maintenance activities relating to site facilities and infrastructure.\nMaintain effective communication with internal stakeholders to ensure service delivery standards are achieved.\nSustainability, Biodiversity & Continuous Improvement\nSupport biodiversity, sustainability and environmental improvement programmes.\nParticipate in waste reduction, resource efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives.\nPromote a strong safety-first culture across the Environmental & Production Services function.\nIdentify opportunities to improve environmental performance, operational efficiency and compliance standards.\nEssential Qualifications, Experience & Skills\nThird-level qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.\nExperience working within a regulated manufacturing, food and beverage, utilities, pharmaceutical or industrial environment.\nExperience supporting environmental compliance, monitoring and reporting activities.\nStrong understanding of environmental management principles and regulatory compliance requirements.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret environmental and operational data.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nExperience working safely with chemical agents and environmental systems.\nDemonstrated interest in wastewater treatment, water management or environmental process operations.\nPreferred Qualifications, Experience & Skills\nExperience operating, monitoring or supporting an industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).\nKnowledge of wastewater treatment processes, biological treatment systems, water management and environmental control systems.\nExperience working within an EPA-licensed facility.\nExperience supporting environmental audits and inspections.\nKnowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001 and FEMAS management systems.\nExperience acting as Permit Authority within a Permit-to-Work system.\nExperience supporting sustainability, biodiversity, water conservation or resource efficiency programmes.\nWhat we offer\nWe understand our people are our special ingredient and at different points, employees require different supports at different stages of their working lives.
