We employ over 800 people across our operations in Cork, Dublin and Northern Ireland.\nJob Purpose\nThe Laboratory Technician will support the Central Laboratory team by carrying out routine laboratory testing, equipment calibrations, sample preparation, inventory management, and data recording activities. The role contributes to maintaining product quality standards while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality systems, health and safety requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform calibrations and routine checks of laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures.\nConduct wet chemistry analysis on product and quality control samples.\nCarry out analytical testing to support quality control and co-packer requirements.\nSupport the maintenance of chemical inventories, laboratory consumables, and retained sample stocks.\nAssist with sample preparation and solution preparation for laboratory testing activities.\nPrepare samples for sensory evaluation activities.\nAccurately record laboratory results and maintain laboratory documentation.\nEnter sample information and analytical results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).\nMaintain laboratory housekeeping standards and support 5S practices.\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.\nWork in accordance with the Central Laboratory Quality Management System and ISO quality standards.\nEnsure compliance with all site health, safety, and environmental requirements.\nSkills, Experience & Qualifications\nEssential\nBachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline.\nLaboratory experience gained through industry, internships, placements, research projects, or academic studies.\nStrong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.\nGood planning, organisational, and time management skills.\nStrong numerical and IT skills.\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.\nAbility to follow laboratory procedures, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.\nDesirable\nExperience working in a quality control, manufacturing, food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or regulated laboratory environment.\nExperience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).\nKnowledge of ISO quality standards or laboratory quality management systems.\nFamiliarity with wet chemistry techniques and laboratory equipment calibration.\nUnderstanding of laboratory housekeeping, 5S principles, and continuous improvement practices.\nOur Commitment to Inclusion\nAt Irish Distillers, we value diverse experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds.
