About the Role

Are you passionate about sharing your welding expertise and helping to develop the next generation of skilled engineers? Do you have industry experience in MIG, TIG and MMA welding and enjoy supporting others to learn, develop, and succeed?

At PETA, we work with some of the largest engineering and manufacturing businesses on the South Coast to develop the engineers of the future. Due to continued growth within our Engineering Department, we are looking to recruit an Associate Engineering Instructor (MIG, TIG & MMA Welding) to support the delivery of our apprenticeship and commercial training programmes.

This role will primarily be based at our specialist engineering training centre in Havant; however, there may be opportunities to deliver training at employer sites where appropriate.

What will I be responsible for?

We are looking for Associate Engineering Instructors (MIG, TIG & MMA Welding) who can support PETA by delivering engaging and effective welding and fabrication training to apprentices, learners, and corporate clients.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Delivering engaging practical workshops and classroom-based training sessions.
  • Demonstrating safe and effective welding practices across a range of materials and applications.
  • Supporting the preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans, and training materials.
  • Planning, preparing, and undertaking assessments of competence against awarding body standards.
  • Ensuring all relevant training, assessment, and company documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and technical support to learners and employers.
  • Promoting safe working practices and ensuring the immediate reporting of accidents or incidents.
  • Supporting learners to achieve their qualifications and develop the skills needed for successful careers within engineering and manufacturing.
  • This is a flexible associate opportunity, allowing you to work with us on an agreed basis to meet employer and learner needs.

What will I need to succeed?

To be successful as our newest Associate Engineering Instructor (MIG, TIG & MMA Welding), passion, professionalism, and a commitment to developing others will be key.

Essential Requirements

  • Level 3 Engineering, Fabrication and Welding, or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive industry experience in MIG, TIG and MMA welding
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes, materials, tools, equipment, and fabrication methods
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to engage and motivate learners from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities
  • Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle

Desirable Requirements

  • Assessor qualification (A1, TAQA, CAVA, or equivalent)
  • Teaching qualification
  • Experience delivering welding or engineering training within an educational or workplace learning environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of apprenticeship standards and frameworks.
  • Experience within manufacturing, fabrication, sheet metal, or precision engineering environments
  • Relevant welding certifications or qualifications

Please note, this is not an exhaustive list. If you have significant industry experience and relevant technical expertise, we would still be keen to hear from you.
