You combine a deep commitment to pet welfare with strong operational discipline and business acumen to achieve sales, margin, and shrink goals, all while modeling Petco’s leadership expectations.\nWhat You’ll Do\nPet First\nEnsure the health, safety, and well-being of all live animals through strict adherence to Petco standards, policies, and veterinary protocols.\nComplete and oversee hourly animal health checks, wellness cards, and required documentation.\nEnsure proper handling, care, and documentation of adoption animals.\nAct immediately and appropriately for sick or injured animals in alignment with veterinary protocols.\nFoster the Fun\nCoach and mentor partners to deliver confident, compassionate, and knowledgeable customer interactions.\nCreate a welcoming, engaging environment in the Companion Animal and Aquatics areas through high presentation standards.\nPromote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.\nLead by example modeling Petco’s selling behaviors and customer service expectations.\nLet’s Go!\nDrive Companion Animal and Aquatics sales, margin, and shrink performance through disciplined execution.\nUtilize business insights to analyze trends, identify opportunities, and implement improvement plans.\nEfficiently order live animals to balance animal welfare, inventory levels, sales, and margin goals.\nSupport Omni-Channel execution, including BOPUS, ship-from-store, curbside, and endless aisle.\nServe as Leader on Duty, supporting Pet Care Center operations, communication, safety, and compliance.\nKey Responsibilities\nAnimal Care & Operations\nExecute Companion Animal and Aquatics operations including animal care, maintenance, ordering, regulatory compliance, CAPI, HAHC, CAPC, and veterinary partnerships.\nEnsure all animal maintenance tasks are completed according to the Maintenance Task List.\nMaintain operational, safety, and regulatory standards at all times.\nAchieve high standards of cleanliness, care, and visual presentation in all animal areas.\nBusiness & Customer Experience\nProcess transactions efficiently while delivering a great customer experience.\nMonitor sales, margin, and inventory reports to support department performance.\nShare product and animal care knowledge to help customers make informed decisions using Petco’s selling strategy.\nAssist with additional duties as needed to support business needs.\nPeople Leadership\nTrain, coach, and develop partners in animal care, selling behaviors, and operational routines.\nProvide ongoing feedback and support to strengthen partner performance and engagement.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nAnimals are healthy, safe, and cared for to Petco’s highest standards.\nCustomers trust the team’s expertise and return for guidance and solutions.\nThe Companion Animal department meets or exceeds sales, margin, and shrink goals\nPartners are confident, well-trained, and proud of the care they provide.\nWhat You Bring\nExperience & Skills\nHigh school Diploma or GED preferred.\n1+ year of supervisory experience, preferably in a pet retail environment.\nStrong knowledge of companion animals, aquatics, and animal care practices.\nExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.\nHigh focus on customer service and people development.\nEssential Functions & Work Environment\nThis role is primarily performed in a Pet Care Center retail environment. The Companion Animal Supervisor is expected to be regularly present on the sales floor, leading by example and engaging with partners, customers, and pets.\nMajority of work is conducted indoors; however, occasional duties may require leaving the Pet Care Center for tasks such as bank deposits, merchandise transport, or community events.\nThe role requires frequent standing and walking, as well as bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting.\nAbility to safely lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds. \nRegular engagement with customers on the sales floor, including providing customer assistance and performing cashiering and point-of-sale transactions.\nMust be able to work in proximity to animals, including exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals.\nFlexible availability to support Pet Care Center operating hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.\nThis is a full-time position.
