The role is a global individual contributor position accountable for setting and driving the AI and solution architecture direction across the entire DQ product portfolio, rather than for the delivery of any single product.\nThe incumbent defines the target architecture, reference patterns, reusable components and engineering standards that every DQ solution is built against, so that capability is built once and reused many times rather than rebuilt product by product. The role leads the scaled adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and agentic AI across the portfolio, translating enterprise AI platforms and emerging technology into GxP-compliant, validated, production-grade capability that measurably improves quality, safety and environmental outcomes at site level.\nRecognised as an expert within and beyond Digital Quality, the incumbent influences the strategic technology direction of the QSEO business, and partners with Solution Leads, the Platform and Solution Engineering team, Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security to ensure architectural coherence, compliance and pace across a complex global portfolio.\nROLE RESPONSIBILITIES\nCross-Product Solution Architecture\nOwn the target-state solution architecture for the Digital Quality portfolio, spanning quality management, laboratory, manufacturing quality, and safety, environment and occupational health solutions.\nDefine how products, platforms, data and integrations fit together, and drive convergence of point solutions onto common architecture, avoiding duplicated capability and unmanaged technical debt across the portfolio.\nArchitecture Standards, Patterns and Reusable Components\nEstablish, publish and maintain the architecture standards, reference patterns, reusable components and engineering guardrails that DQ solutions are designed and built against, covering integration, data, identity, AI, validation and cyber security.\nMake reuse the path of least resistance for delivery teams, and measure adoption, reuse and the resulting delivery efficiency.\nScaled AI Enablement\nDefine and drive the AI and agentic AI architecture for the DQ portfolio, including use case patterns such as deviation and incident triage, leading-indicator prediction, automated document and content generation, and conversational access to standards and procedures.\nDetermine where AI capability should be built once as a shared service versus configured per product, and ensure AI is delivered on enterprise platforms with appropriate human oversight, evaluation, model monitoring and lifecycle management.\nDesign Authority and Technical Governance\nAct as design authority for significant DQ investments, reviewing and approving solution designs at key lifecycle gates and providing architectural assurance on build-versus-buy, platform selection and vendor technical fit.\nIdentify multiple viable options for highly complex problems, set out the trade-offs in cost, risk, compliance and time to value, and make clear recommendations to Digital and business leadership and relevant governance forums.\nTechnical Leadership and Capability Building\nProvide hands-on architectural leadership to Solution Leads, Product Managers, engineers and vendor teams across the portfolio without direct reporting authority, influencing through expertise, credibility and evidence.\nMentor and raise the technical capability of architects and engineers across Digital Quality, and lead architecture and AI Communities of Practice that spread good practice across DQ and the wider Digital organisation.\nCompliance, Data Integrity and Security by Design\nEnsure architectural decisions embed GxP computerised system compliance, data integrity, data privacy and cyber security requirements from the outset, in partnership with Quality, Legal, Privacy, Compliance and Cyber Security.\nDefine validation-efficient architecture patterns that allow AI and cloud capability to be deployed at pace while remaining inspection-ready.\nInnovation and Emerging Technology\nExercise foresight in evaluating emerging AI, data and platform technologies, and act independently on self-initiated proofs of concept and technical experiments that challenge the status quo and shape the multi-year DQ technology roadmap.\nTake appropriate, well-governed technical risk, and translate proven experiments into scaled, supportable production capability with a defined adoption path.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree required in Information Technology, Engineering, Environmental or Occupational Health Sciences, Life Sciences or a related discipline.\n10+ years of relevant experience in in solution architecture, technical leadership or enterprise software delivery (9+ years with an MS/MBA; 7+ years with a PhD), including demonstrable accountability for architecture across a portfolio of products rather than a single application.\nDemonstrated experience designing and delivering AI or machine learning capability into production, including an understanding of large language model and agentic architecture patterns, retrieval, evaluation and model lifecycle management.\nStrong experience with cloud, integration and data architecture, and with modern software engineering and Agile ways of working; SAFe preferred.\nExperience setting and driving adoption of technical standards across teams that do not report to the incumbent, influencing senior stakeholders through technical credibility.\nExperience across all stages of the system and application lifecycle, from value analysis and business case through deployment to value realisation and technical debt management.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical senior leaders.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in the pharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated manufacturing environment, including GxP computerised system validation and data integrity expectations (e.g. GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11).\nWorking knowledge of quality, or EHS business processes and the platforms that support them (for example Veeva, LIMS, Cority).\nExperience deploying AI in a regulated context, including responsible AI governance, model risk assessment and human-in-the-loop design.\nRecognised architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF) or equivalent cloud architecture certification.\nTrack record of external technical contribution - industry forums, working groups, publications or conference speaking.\nPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS\nTypical desk job; no specific physical or mental requirements beyond standard office work.\nNON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS\nOccasional travel up to 20%\nAbility to work with colleagues virtually across different regions and time zones, including occasional out-of-hours working to support deployment go-lives and hypercare.\nORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS\nReports into Pfizer Digital, PGS, Enabling Functions & Enterprise Platforms - Digital Quality Lead.\nKey internal relationships include Enterprise Architecture, the enterprise AI and Data organization, Cyber Security, Digital Compliance and Computerized System Validation, Legal and Privacy, and senior business stakeholders across Quality and EHS in Pfizer Global Supply. External: strategic software and AI vendors, cloud and platform providers, implementation and managed service partners, and relevant industry and regulatory technical forums.\nRESOURCES MANAGED\nFinancial Accountability\nNo direct budget ownership. Influences the architecture and technology decisions underpinning the Digital Quality portfolio representing approximately $10M of annual software, services and transformation investment, and is accountable for identifying reuse and rationalization opportunities that improve return on that investment\nSupervision\nIndividual contributor with no direct reports. Provides technical direction and design authority to matrixed teams of product, engineering, data, validation and vendor resources across the Digital Quality portfolio, and mentors architects and senior engineers across the organization.\nWork Location Assignment: Hybrid\nPfizer is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable equal employment opportunity legislation in each jurisdiction in which it operates.\nTo learn more about acceptable and prohibited uses of AI during the recruitment process, please review our candidate AI-use guidelines available on Pfizer Careers.\nInformation & Business Tech","description_format":"text","description_chars":8725,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":10,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Prescription Drugs","Information Security","Oncology Therapeutics","Infectious Disease Therapeutics"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-27T17:07:31Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":63,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.632,"p_room":1,"age_days":3,"expected_fill_days":13,"reasons":["conf:1","stale_co","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-10-31T05:58:55Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/pfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/pfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-31T22:20:15Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":34913,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-01T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":3480},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=3480"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fpfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fpfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fpfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/pfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fpfizer-scaled-ai-solution-architect"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3345631}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"pfizer.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3345631},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
