The Accounting Lead is expected to manage the monthly close process including journal entries, reviews, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts. The Lead is also responsible for providing detailed analysis and reporting of expenses to the Finance/Accounting and other PFSCM Units. The Accounting Lead is expected to identify continuous improvement opportunities and direct and manage accounting administration within the Finance & Accounting Team. The Lead is responsible for team performance on key performance indicators and staff management, development, support, and coaching of Staff Accountants and accounting-related positions.\nSpecific responsibilities\nEnsure trial balances are reviewed on a monthly basis, abnormalities investigated, and resolution recommendations provided as necessary.\nReview project-based reconciliations for all bank accounts and asset and liability reconciliations, as well as accrued & accounts payable accounts.\nReview and manage reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, the profit and loss report, and PFSCM equity.\nServe as an approver for all accounting-related documents in the accounting system.\nMonitor cash to GL balances and insurance charges regularly.\nReview fees earned and ensure appropriate account transfers are made.\nPrepare and review bank receipt vouchers to match incoming wire transfers and transfers between bank accounts.\nManage the monthly closing process by analyzing accounts and preparing adjusting journal entries.\nLead financial audits, including preparing various audit schedules.\nForm 990 preparation and submission\nCash forecast \nMaintain document retention in accordance with PFSCM policies and procedures.\nDevelop, maintain, and manage standard operating procedures and work instructions, including continuous improvement reviews and updates.\nManage staff performance and periodically evaluate the performance of individual staff.\nDevelop and maintain an onboarding training program and regular refresher training for internal teams, new hires, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on processes and SOPs.\nPerform additional duties as necessary to increase team capacity and maintain performance.\nQualifications\nProfessional and Technical Knowledge\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required. CPA is required. \n8+ years’ of accounting experience, including using a computerized accounting system.\nExperience with international donor agencies or government is a plus.\nStrong action management, including the ability to manage projects in the most cost-efficient manner, resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressing conditions.\nAdvanced computing skills in standard software systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.\nWillingness and availability to travel and perform other duties as needed.\nMust be eligible to work in the United States of America.\n\nInterpersonal skills/Communication \nExcellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills with strong sense of customer service.
