This is a high-impact, externally facing role that blends deep clinical expertise with business development, scientific communication, and product strategy. This role is based at our Cambridge, MA headquarters on a hybrid schedule (2-3 days/week in-office). We're open to candidates outside of Boston who are willing to travel to HQ on a regular monthly basis - we find that in-person time meaningfully accelerates collaboration. \nThe Medical Director will serve as a key clinical voice across all four PhaseV product modules, supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders - from data scientists and engineers to pharma executives and KOLs. In the U.S. market specifically, this role will play a significant part in business development efforts, thought leadership, and marketing, including speaking engagements, conference representation, and content creation such as blog posts and white papers. \nThe ideal candidate holds an M.D. with a strong interest in leveraging advanced statistical and machine learning methods to improve clinical trial design and execution. \nThis role requires up to 25% travel, primarily for industry conferences, client meetings, and business development engagements.\nKey Responsibilities\nClinical & Scientific Leadership\nProvide clinical oversight and interpretation for PhaseV’scausal ML-based models across all four product modules (Response Optimizer, Trial Optimizer, Portfolio Optimizer, Clin Ops Optimizer)\nEnsure the highest standard of clinical relevance and accuracy in data outputs, platform recommendations, and client deliverables\nServe as a clinical expert in client-facing discussions, translating complex data science outputs into actionable medical insights\nProvide guidance to internal data science, engineering, and product teams on clinical concepts relevant to ongoing projects\nBusiness Development Support\nCollaborate closely with the business development team to communicate PhaseV’s clinical value proposition to pharma, biotech, and CRO partners\nParticipate in client meetings, partnership discussions, and proposal development as a clinical subject matter expert\nDevelop and refine presentation slides for BD meetings, pitches, and scientific discussions, translating platform capabilities and clinical evidence into compelling visual narratives\nSupport contract and scope-of-work discussions where clinical expertise is critical to positioning PhaseV’s solutions\nThought Leadership & Marketing (U.S.-focused)\nRepresent PhaseV at industry conferences, scientific symposia, and advisory boards as a speaker and clinical spokesperson\nAuthor or co-author blog posts, white papers, and scientific publications to build PhaseV’s external profile in the clinical trials and drug development community\nContribute to marketing materials, case studies, and client-facing content that highlight clinical outcomes and platform value\nNew Product Development\nPartner with the product and data science teams to inform the development of new platform capabilities and product modules\nProvide clinical feasibility input during early-stage product ideation and design\nHelp define clinically meaningful use cases, endpoints, and success criteria for new offerings\nQualifications\nRequired\nM.D. degree \nExcellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable in both scientific, business development, and executive-level settings\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment\nCuriosity and willingness to engage with advanced biostatistics and causal machine learning (technical expertise not required)\nPreferred\nExperience supporting or leading business development efforts\nExperience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO environments\nExperience in health technology, AI in healthcare, or related fields\nTrack record of thought leadership: publications, conference presentations, or industry writing\nPrior exposure to adaptive trial design, Bayesian methods, or AI/ML in clinical settings\nWorking knowledge of clinical trial methodology and regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, GCP)\nSecond advanced degree (Ph.D. or MBA) is a differentiator but not required\nCompensation & Benefits\nCompensation: The expected base salary range for this role is $255,000-$300,000, depending on experience and qualifications. \nIn addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for a performance bonus and equity compensation. \nFinal compensation will be determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, and overall fit for the role.\nWhy PhaseV\nBe at the frontier of clinical trial innovation - your work directly shapes how drugs are developed and approved\nWork alongside a world-class team of data scientists, clinicians, and operators who are genuinely passionate about impact\nDiverse, intellectually demanding problem set - no two projects are alike\nHighly collaborative, flat startup culture with meaningful ownership and career growth\nDual-continent presence (Boston + Tel Aviv) with a global client base\nPhaseV is an equal opportunity employer.
