Built on technical excellence, collaboration, and a commitment to safety and quality, we take on complex challenges together.\nThe Opportunity\nWe're looking for an Intermediate Electrical Engineer - Substation to join our growing engineering team.\nIn this role, you will support the design and engineering of high-voltage substation projects, contributing to all phases of project execution from concept development and detailed design through construction support, commissioning, and startup.\nIf you enjoy solving technical challenges, working alongside experienced engineers, and building your expertise across a variety of utility and industrial projects, this role offers meaningful work, diverse project exposure, and opportunities for continued professional growth. #phasorinclusive\nWhat You'll Do\nPrepare and develop outdoor substation design packages for voltage levels ranging from 25 kV to 240 kV, including layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, grounding systems, cable layouts, and control building electrical design\nPerform engineering calculations and studies, including grounding, lightning protection, lighting, AC/DC load studies, station service transformer and battery bank sizing, insulation coordination, rigid bus studies, and MV cable ampacity calculations using CYMCAP\nSupport the development of equipment, apparatus, and material specifications\nReview vendor drawings and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements\nDevelop and maintain bills of materials for substation projects\nCoordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to support integrated project delivery\nProvide engineering support during construction and commissioning activities\nCollect, organize, and interpret project engineering and vendor information\nAssist in the development and continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures, and best practices\nResolve technical issues and support project teams in delivering high-quality engineering solutions\nWhat We're Looking For\nBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering\nRegistered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or another Canadian professional engineering association\n4-8 years of high-voltage substation engineering experience\nStrong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and power system design principles\nExperience with outdoor substation design and engineering deliverables\nFamiliarity with construction support and commissioning activities\nWorking knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, including CEC, CSA, AEUC, and OESC\nExperience with CYMCAP or similar engineering analysis software is considered an asset\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail\nAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple priorities\nExpected annual salary: $100,000-$140,000 (actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and current market conditions).\nRequirements\nWhat We're Looking For\nBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering\nRegistered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or another Canadian professional engineering association\n4-8 years of high-voltage substation engineering experience\nStrong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and power system design principles\nExperience with outdoor substation design and engineering deliverables\nFamiliarity with construction support and commissioning activities\nWorking knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, including CEC, CSA, AEUC, and OESC\nExperience with CYMCAP or similar engineering analysis software is considered an asset\nStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail\nAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple priorities\nBenefits\nWhy Phasor Engineering\nAt Phasor Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to be part of some of North America's most complex utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects while collaborating with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
