Built on technical excellence, collaboration, and a commitment to safety and quality, we take on complex challenges together.\nThe Opportunity\nWe're looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer - Substation to join our engineering team.\nIn this role, you will lead the design and engineering of high-voltage substation projects, supporting everything from concept development through detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and startup.\nIf you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and mentoring junior engineers, this role offers meaningful technical work, diverse project exposure, and opportunities for long-term professional growth. #phasorinclusive\nWhat You'll Do\nComplete and authenticate outdoor substation design packages for voltage levels ranging from 25 kV to 240 kV, including layouts, plot plans, bus elevations, grounding, cable layouts, and control building electrical design \nPerform engineering calculations and studies, including grounding, lightning, lighting, AC/DC load studies, station service transformer and battery bank sizing, insulation coordination, rigid bus studies, and MV cable ampacity calculations using CYMCAP \nDevelop equipment, apparatus, and material specifications suitable for project applications \nReview vendor documentation and engineering deliverables to ensure constructability, operability, and compliance with project requirements \nDevelop and maintain bills of materials for substation installations \nCoordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure overall design integration and project success \nProvide technical support during construction and commissioning activities as required \nCollect, interpret, and organize project engineering and vendor information \nMentor junior engineers while supporting the development of internal engineering standards and best practices \nResolve technical and project challenges while ensuring designs meet client requirements and applicable codes and standards\nWhat We're Looking For\n Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering \n Eligible for registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) \n 6-8+ years of high-voltage substation engineering experience \n Strong understanding of electrical theory, engineering calculations, and power system design principles \n Experience designing outdoor substations and supporting construction and commissioning activities \n Working knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, including CEC, CSA, AEUC, and OESC \n Experience with CYMCAP or similar engineering analysis software is considered an asset \n Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills \n Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with exceptional attention to detail \n Experience mentoring junior engineers and working within multidisciplinary engineering teams \nExpected annual salary: $130,000-$170,000 (actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and current market conditions.)\nBenefits\nWhy Phasor Engineering\nAt Phasor Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to be part of some of North America's most complex utility, industrial, and infrastructure projects while collaborating with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.
