We focus on producing high-quality, reliable, and effective tools. Our tools are used both internally by our own engineers and externally by our clients.\nWe are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our India Product Engineering team members and Platform Operations, driving the execution of delivery goals, developing tools and automation under the phData Toolkit, and ensuring operational excellence across AWS, GCP, Azure, and Snowflake. This role requires hands-on technical leadership through development, code reviews, and user support for our products, while collaborating closely with US leadership and partnering with the IT team to achieve security and compliance objectives. The Engineering Manager will play a critical role in building and retaining a high-performing team in India, balancing technical depth, people leadership, and compliance responsibilities in support of Information Security and compliance audits.\nKey Responsibilities:\nTechnical Oversight and Hands-on Leadership:Oversee delivery and provide technical guidance to the product engineering team while collaborating with US leadership on roadmap and priorities, occasionally contributing hands-on to drive execution.\n\nCloud and data platform oversight and leadership (AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake): Lead architecture, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, access management, approvals, and cost optimization across multi-cloud and Snowflake environments. Oversee RBAC on Snowflake and other internal environments, define policies, and build and maintain internal infrastructure. Provide advice and best practices to teams building internal cloud infrastructure as well as customer environments.\n\nIT collaboration on processes and access: Collaborate closely with the IT team on access control, cloud environment changes, and access approval workflows, provisioning / deprovisioning guardrails. Assist with customer security questionnaires, co-author and maintain platform and security policies/ standards, and participate in periodic infrastructure reviews, patching, and vulnerability management. Ensure that all processes and changes align with the organization's information security requirements.\n\nSecurity and Compliance: Ensure security and compliance by following standards, improving security posture, and managing vulnerabilities, access, and privacy according to Information Security policies and SOC 2 controls. Collaborate with teams to identify and resolve security issues across cloud environments, applications, databases, code, domains, and email settings.\n\nProduct and Project Management: Identify opportunities to deepen cross-department partnerships and expand joint solution offerings. Able to gather and synthesize feedback from internal teams and track and drive projects to completion.\n\nCross-Functional Leadership and Tooling Initiatives: Lead and support tool integrations, if any, and POCs, contribute to company-wide initiatives, and drive activities such as documentation, automation, cleanups, and training. Collaborate closely with US-based leadership, Product, Security, IT, and Customer teams, as well as India practice leaders, to gather feedback, improve products\n\nTeam Leadership and Mentorship (India):Mentor and manage a team of engineers in India, ensuring high engagement, defining career paths, and helping with skill development. Hire and onboard team members as needed and maintain low attrition while building a strong, effective team.\n\nCore Competencies:\nOwnership and execution: Bias to action, high accountability, and an end-to-end delivery mindset\n\nTechnical depth: Ability to dive into architecture while guiding and setting direction for the team\n\nPeople leadership: Coaching, career growth advocacy, and building an inclusive, strong team culture\n\nSecurity mindset: Security mindset with pragmatic risk management and focus on controls\n\nCommunication and collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience; ability to deliver presentations tailored to the target audience, from technical stakeholders through to executive teams.\n\n Required Qualifications:\n20+ yearsof software engineering and platform operations experience with hands-on coding and code reviews in modern languages and frameworks.\n\n5+ yearsleading engineering teams, driving product and tools development and automation, including hiring, performance management, and career development, while collaborating with US stakeholders.\n\nExpertise in AWS is required, and it is good to have experience in at least one other cloud platform, such as GCP orAzure, with a strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, AWS ECS Fargate, security and compliance, RBAC, and overall infrastructure governance and management.\n\nFamiliarity with data platform technologysuch as Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, and Sigma Computing.\n\nGood understanding of security and compliance, including control frameworks, SOC 2 audit support, evidence collection, and remediation.\n\nDemonstrated success delivering against long-term and short-term department goals, roadmaps, and OKRs through collaboration with US leadership.\n\nExcellent English communication(verbal & written) and stakeholder management skills across different functions.\n\nGood experiencewith AWS, Java-based applications, and security practices.\n\nWhy phData?
