You will work across the full development lifecycle from designing scalable solutions and delivering features to ensuring performance, reliability, and a polished user experience.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java.\nBuild scalable, maintainable application architecture using sound object-oriented design principles and established design patterns.\nDevelop intuitive, responsive, and accessible user interfaces that provide a simple and engaging customer experience.\nIntegrate and maintain APIs, third-party libraries, SDKs, analytics platforms, and backend services.\nImprove application performance, including network efficiency, battery usage, memory management, storage, and app responsiveness.\nDebug production issues, address defects, and continuously improve app stability, quality, and feature set.\nKeep applications current with Android platform changes, security updates, and evolving libraries and development practices.\nCollaborate closely with product, UX, QA, backend, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver reliable releases.\nContribute to technical discussions, code reviews, estimation, and continuous improvement of development practices.\nEvaluate relevant new technologies and tools that can improve engineering efficiency, app quality, or user experience.\nYou're the right fit if:\nYou have a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 5+ years of hands-on experience in native Android application development.\nStrong proficiency in Kotlin and solid experience with Java for Android development.\nStrong understanding of the Android SDK and core Android components, including activities, fragments, intents, services, broadcast receivers, content providers, layouts, widgets, touch handling, drawing, media, location, networking, storage, and security.\nGood understanding of Android application architecture, design patterns, object-oriented design, and computer science fundamentals.\nExperience with concurrency, multithreading, memory management, file I/O, and performance optimization.\nExperience integrating RESTful web services and working with JSON, XML, serialization, and API framing. Familiarity with SOAP is a plus.\nExperience with local data storage and database technologies such as SQLite/SQL and contemporary backend-integrated data solutions.\nStrong knowledge of unit, integration, and UI testing practices, including TDD where applicable.\nHands-on experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, and Espresso.\nExperience with Git, issue tracking, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering productivity tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps/TFS.\nExperience working in Agile development teams.\nExperience publishing and maintaining applications through the Google Play Store, including release and rollout processes.\nStrong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to communicate effectively within a collaborative team.\nPreferred Skills:\nExperience with Bluetooth and connectivity technologies, particularly Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).\nFamiliarity with network and battery optimization techniques for mobile applications.\nExperience working with analytics, visualizations, animations, and rich mobile UI experiences.\nExposure to React Native or other cross-platform mobile development frameworks.\nExperience working with consumer-facing, connected-device, or IoT mobile applications.\nAbout Philips\nWe are a health technology company.
