This position is considered essential personnel.*\nWAGE RANGE: $31.50- $34.50 plus shift differential.\n\nPay Group\n\nType\n\nStatus\n\nFiscal Year Weeks\n\nClass\n\nDepartment\n\nLocation\n\nBiWkly (Hourly)\n\nRegular\n\nPart-Time\n\nApprox. 32 weeks (Sept. - Apr)\n\nStaff\n\nFacilities Management\n\nOn-Campus\n\nPosition Purpose\nServes as a key player to the physical plant operation and control of the Central Heating Plant. Responsible for the overall operation of the Central Heating Plant to include; plant operation duties, inspections and watch standing, and campus alarm monitoring.\nJob Responsibilities\nPerform routine daily operations on all steam generating, auxiliary, and ice rink equipment as outlined in the CHP Preventive Maintenance Program .\nMonitor and operate steam generation equipment and auxiliaries.\nMonitor, analyze, and control manual and automated systems.\nStand boiler plant watch and perform firefighter duties as required and outlined below.\nMonitor and record high and low pressure system steam outputs, boiler water temperature, pressure and water levels, as well as fuel pressure.\nMaintain accurate logs and records of outside air temperature, feeding water temperature, boiler water levels, receiving water temperature, and steam pressures.\nMonitor and operate ice rink equipment to include checking and recording ammonia levels, brine system temperatures.\nOperate equipment-using computers, PLCs, meters, hand and power tools.\nUtilize mobile devices and a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to receive, document, and complete work order requests.\nObserving and reporting, through the CMMS, defects, deterioration and wear and tear on the facilities.\nMonitor campus building automation system alarms; evaluate issues to determine priorities and appropriate response.\nBe available for work on campus when needed for steam equipment inspections and or maintenance/upkeep\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nKnowledge, Skills and Competencies\nEfficiently operate equipment related computers.\nStrong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.\nRespect for diversity of identities and including amidst stressful situations.\nDirect/Indirect Reports\nNone.\nPosition Requirements\nEducation\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\nSome college experience helpful.\nTraining in HVAC field is required.\nTraining in building automation systems is preferred.\nLicense as Stationary Engineer preferred\nExperience\nExperience in steam plant operation or maintenance.\nExperience with computer-based controls, building automation systems, steam and hydronic heating systems, and air conditioning equipment.\nExperience operating commercial refrigeration equipment preferred.\nExperience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.\nExperience in an institutional or campus setting preferred.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to work off ladders, aerial platforms, and lifts.\nAbility to lift and transport a minimum of 50 lbs. without assistance.\nAdditional Requirements\nSuccessfully complete upon hire a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).\n*Essential personnel are required to report to or remain at work if instructed directly by designated personnel during emergency events or inclement
