Primary duties include preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, and programming, installing and troubleshooting HVAC System Equipment / Controls, Building Automation controls, and energy management systems.\nJob Responsibilities\nOperate and maintain all computerized, microprocessor, electronic, and pneumatic based controls, ensuring proper operation to ensure a safe and comfortable indoor environment for the Academy community.\nMonitor the performance of controls and systems - provide analysis and troubleshooting and perform repairs and modifications.\nLead and perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance on all campus HVAC equipment and Steam Distribution System.\nDevelop and implement solutions to building heating/cooling/air quality issues.\nAssist in developing and implementing standards and specifications for the construction, operation and maintenance of automated building systems.\nReview plans, specifications, and technical submittals and provide input to the project team during the design phase of projects.\nMaintain inventory of mechanical systems and develop preventive maintenance programs utilizing a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).\nAssist in project turnover and final testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and controls.\nAssist in evaluating the effectiveness of current energy management strategies and building automation controls.\nParticipate in the evaluation and selection of new and replacement hardware and software for automated building systems.\nProvide support to plumbers, electricians, and carpenters as needed with a scheduled “On-Call” rotation.\nLead and assist IT and Network infrastructure/IP based Networks throughout campus with regards to HVAC and Refrigeration equipment/systems.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\nKnowledge, Skills and Competencies\nKnowledge of and experience with building automation controls.\nA working knowledge of mechanical operations and hands-on HVAC maintenance, including electrical, electronic and pneumatic control equipment, steam and hydronic heating systems and air conditioning systems required.\nRespect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.\nAbility to use computer based software including email, computerized maintenance management system, asset management system, and smart phone/mobile devices, as well as Building Automation Systems, and MS Office.\nAble to troubleshoot and Diagnose HVAC/Refrigeration systems.\nStrong interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships.\nExcellent communication (written and verbal) skills and the ability to follow directions.\nMaintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.\nA strict adherence to confidential policies and Technology guidelines\nAbility to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.\nWillingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.\nHigh degree of organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and multi-task with accuracy.\nDirect/Indirect Reports\nNone.\nPosition Requirements\nEducation\nAssociate's Degree in HVAC technology or a related field, preferred.\nEPA Section 608 Certification required.\nNH Service Gas Technician license required.\nExperience\nThree to five years as a technician in HVAC systems installation, operations and maintenance, including direct experience with a computer based controls and energy management program required.\nMinimum of 1 year refrigeration systems experience or completed refrigeration training required.\nDDC control experience is required.\nFamiliar with Andover Controls strongly preferred\nExperience in an institutional or campus setting\nExperience working with adolescents in an educational setting is preferred.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift and transport up to 60 lbs without assistance.\nAbility to climb stairs, ladders and scaffold and work at heights.\nAbility to work in confined spaces.\nAbility to work in extreme hot or cold conditions.\nAdditional Requirements\nSuccessfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).\nClean Driving record (reviewed annually) .
