Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.\nFLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly)\nCLASSIFICATION: Staff\nWAGE: $33.00- $34.50 Based on relevant experience\n\nPosition Purpose\nThis position efficiently maintains and preserves the Academy’s interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, fixtures, and equipment to ensure a clean, safe and appealing appearance for those visiting, residing in, and working on campus.\nKey Accountabilities\nPerform work in a safe and professional manner\nRepair surfaces before painting, filling holes and cracks with putty or patching plaster\nPrepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, brushing, sanding, or sealing\nRepairing and patching drywall, plaster, and stucco as needed.\nRemoving and installing architectural hardware, including hinges, latches as needed\nRoll, brush, or spray paint onto exterior surfaces, walls, ceilings, floors, equipment, trim, and molding in or on buildings and structures.\nApply fine finish spray painting in spray booth using HVLP (high volume low pressure) paint guns and paint machines and maintain equipment.\nTint paints using compact color dispenser and perform maintenance on dispenser.\nProtect work areas against dripping, splashing, and overspray\nDisassemble, refinish, and move furniture as needed\nErect ladders and scaffolding and be able to work on the same\nMaintain all painting tools and other equipment\nGlaze windows as needed\nUse high pressure washer to clean surfaces as needed.\nRemoving snow and ice from roofs gutters, and roof leaders\nBasic carpentry skills\nPerform lead testing for painting projects to assure compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) rule.\nIdentify restoration projects on campus, develop work scope, plan and execute. Preparing records of material and time expended\nAttend the Environmental Protection Agency’s lead safe training - Renovation Repair and Painting (RRP) rule to become a Certified Renovator.\nPerform lead testing on painting projects and when lead is present follow lead safe work practices in compliance with RRP rule.\nWhen requested by Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager perform RRP on areas identified as lead in Lead Inspection Report and document results.\nPerform research and make recommendations to manager regarding the purchase of new paint products for better performance and/or products containing low VOC (volatile organic compounds) to help reduce carbon footprint.\nPerform research and make recommendations to manager regarding the purchase of new tools and equipment to improve quality and/or efficiency, and when applicable arrange for vendors to provide a demonstration of new equipment prior to purchase.\nUtilize mobile devices and a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to receive, document, and complete work order requests.\nObserving and reporting, through the CMMS, defects, deterioration and wear and tear on the facilities\nOther duties as assigned.\nPosition Requirements\nSkills & Knowledge\nAbility to work independently and achieve high results with minimal supervision.\nAbility to lift and transport a minimum of 50 lbs.\nRespect for a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.\nExperience\nMinimum of three years painting experience.\nFamiliarity working on scaffolding, staging, bucket trucks and ladders preferred.\nProper knowledge of working with lead based paint.\nEducation\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred.\nPhysical Requirements\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nPhysical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time, go up and down flights of steps, and well as stoop, kneel, crouch and lift requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting and transporting a minimum of 50 lbs. \nMust be able to work in confined areas and areas subject to extreme heat and cold temperatures including inclement weather.\nAdditional
