Read More\nJOB PURPOSE\nPHINIA is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Direct Materials Buyer at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI. This is an on-site position and the candidate is expected to be on-site 5 days per week.The Direct Material Buyer is responsible for sourcing and managing direct materials that support PHINIA's aftermarket and remanufacturing operations. This position ensures continuity of supply, cost competitiveness, quality performance, and supplier responsiveness across a broad range of product lines including diesel fuel injection systems, starters, alternators, turbocharger actuators, and other future product categories.\nThe successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of aftermarket and remanufacturing business models, including variable demand patterns, service-level requirements, product lifecycle management, and supplier risk mitigation.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nKey Responsibilities\nExecute sourcing strategies for direct materials supporting aftermarket and remanufacturing operations.\nEnsure continuity of supply while optimizing inventory, working capital, cost, quality, delivery, and customer service performance.\nManage supplier relationships, negotiations, contracts, performance metrics, and development initiatives.\nSupport RFQs, sourcing decisions, cost-reduction initiatives, and long-term commercial agreements.\nPartner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, and Customer Service to support new products, engineering changes, launches, and customer requirements.\nEvaluate supplier capabilities and support PPAP, APQP, supplier transfers, and quality compliance activities.\nMonitor supply risks and escalate concerns while supporting mitigation and recovery plans.\nMonitor supplier performance through KPIs, scorecards, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nSupport inventory optimization, shortage recovery, and supply disruption management.\nEnsure compliance with PHINIA sourcing policies, purchasing procedures, and ethical sourcing standards.\nSupport supplier improvement, cost savings, sourcing optimization, and productivity initiatives.\nPartner with Global Supply Management (GSM) and plant stakeholders to support sourcing objectives and supplier performance initiatives.\nParticipate in cross-functional procurement initiatives supporting supplier performance, sourcing activities, sustainability, and operational improvements.\nWhat we’re looking for\nBachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.\n3+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience in automotive, aftermarket, remanufacturing, or manufacturing environments.\nExperience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and direct material procurement.\nKnowledge of automotive quality systems, supplier launch processes (PPAP/APQP), and technical documentation.\nExperience working within global, cross-functional environments and influencing internal and external stakeholders.\nStrong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nProficiency with SAP or other ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.\nEQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY\nPHINIA is an equal employment opportunity employer such that all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.\nVISA SPONSORSHIP\nFor this role, applicants must be currently authorized to work on a full-time basis in the country where the position is based.
